I’ve never actually been to a wedding with uplighting, so take this for what it’s worth. It seems like all the weddings on tv that use them always drape fabric everywhere, so maybe that helps keep the outside light from flooding the room? I’m guessing that it will still work, but it won’t be as bright.

Our lighting guy told us it was a waste of money to do uplighting when there is sunlight coming it. You just won’t see the colors much, if at all. Since you really won’t have any of your reception in the dark, you should save the money, as it won’t really work.

We did uplighting an our wedding started at 6pm in August. I had the same concern but they looked great. They weren’t as bright when the reception started but they def added to the feel and the abience (sp) to the room.
