Yes, they could. If you’re comfortable with it, I’d see a chiropractor to get adjusted. Your vertebrae and ribs can slide out of place very easily and cause pain.

I had this type of pain from week 18-28 and it was excruciating! It wasn’t from my breasts or rib pain. I’m almost certain it was a pinched nerve.

MrsCoest3:  I’ve had pain in around my bra-strap line as well since I hit the 3rd trimester. However, for me it wasn’t an issue of breast growth, as I’ve probably only grown one cup size from A to B. In my case, I have muscle splinting in my ribs, which means simply that the muscles that hold my ribs together are really tight and don’t want to expand. During pregnancy, the uterus pushes organs, such as the stomach into the upper abdominal region, and causes the ribs to expand. If those muscles are tight, it can create what feels like back pain in that region. Additionally, now that I’m 35 weeks along, and the babe is running out of room, she likes to wedge her knee/foot/something into my right rib area which makes things really sore, and gives me even more upper back pain. It’s a lot worse if I’m sitting down and after I’ve eaten a meal because everything gets further compressed around the ribs. The only way I can alleviate that particular discomfort it is by standing up, or laying down horizontal.
