Monday night I was on freaking out about my induction yesterday. Thanks to some of you I had the courage to follow through.
I’m not a first time mom. My first is abother girl who is nearly seven. With my first I had a membrane sweep the morning before my due date. I went into labor right away. Eventually I went to the hospital and once I did time just drug by.
I was given some pain killers since the anesthesiologist was busy in trauma. Evenntually I got an epi and had to have a second dose because the pain was so bad.
I rnded up pushing for five hours. They had to use the vacuum and it resulted in a deep tear all the way thrpugh. She was nearly nine pounds. So knowing I was about to attempt this freaked me out.
My ob came in and I was checked. When I arrived at the hospital I didn’t even notice but I was having regular contractions every seven hours. I was still only two cm though. They started my pitosin at super low doses and the pain kicked in but not bad at first. Four hours later and I wasn’t making progress with dilation so the doc recommended a cessarian. I got all the info I could but was afraid so I decided to play it by ear. Eventually the contractions got unbearable, one on top of the other without a break. I was ofered the epi but asked to be checked for progress first hoping maybe I was going into ths transition phase. Only four cm, not close to pushing. So I asked for the epi. They gave me a low dose so I could still feel and move my legs but couldn’t feel anything more than pressure.
An hour later the nurse came to check for progress and my water broke on Its own, woo hoo! Another thIrty mInutes latwr and the pains started to come back. I was given a “happy button” to help the pain and with much reluctancy I used it during the bad contractions. It wasn’t helping.
I told the nurse the pain was bad so she called my ob in to check progress again. I was getting a lot of pressure like the baby was trying to go out my bum. The doc checked and the baby was really low and I was fully dilated. All morning they said she was “floating” so when she decended it was time to push. But my husband went home to eat!
I called him and thankfully we live right up the road so he hurried back. His whole family arrived at the same time. When DH got here the doc got the room set up and right away I started pushing. With the first push her head was already showibg. The second contraction we got even closer. The third push.. in the middle of the push the ob started yelling “stop! Stop! Don’t push!” I stopped and the ob and nurse were freaking out. I could see my baby super pale, not moving or breathing. Doc grabbed the scissor things and went to town. My baby had the chord wrapped around her neck twice and the doc was having trouble getting it becauseit was so tight. She got the chord and I gave one last push and she was born. Just three contractions. But with the chord I was freaking out. I didn’t know what to do. I am so thankful she is ok!
I didn’t tear, didn’t get one stitch. In fact all I have taken since shw was born 13 hours ago was ibuprophen and I feel great! A cessarian may have been the best bet with the chord ans had I knoen I would have agreed from the beginning but none of ud knew. At least it seems my healing eill be much quicker and easier. She is a perfect little baby who hardly cries and I just can’t believe she is here! I’m holding her now as she sleeps and just wishing I could squeeze her over and over.
So hrre is my beautiful little angel eho was brought into this world just 13 hours ago ♥
