Hi, I’m looking for venues in upstate NY that will allow us to party past midnight, or suggestions for an after party. I am looking at venues around Ithaca but I’d be happy finding a place closer to NYC, too. My fiance’s family are all flying in from Chile to attend the wedding, and we’d like to host a wedding that goes late into the night. I mean, even my fiance’s 80 year old grandmother starts partying at 10pm and doesn’t quit until 3am!

ms.oregano: This is a liquor license issue. Places won’t be able to serve you after last call (which is 1am in Ithaca). Here are the provisions by county: http://www.sla.ny.gov/provisions-for-county-closing-hours, some go as late as 4am.
As far as specific venues, every place I have talked to in upstate had no problem staying open until 1, but i had to pay extra for it.
One option would be to rent a house on the lake and host a non-catered after party there. That would get around the liquor laws (but be careful about noise violations!)

ms.oregano: Are you thinking upstate Upstate or are you hoping for a downstater’s Upstate?

@alyx19 Either. I’m from the “real” upstate Finger Lakes region (and my family is there) but I have family in downstater’s Upstate and guests driving up from Long Island. Downstater’s Upstate would be a half-way point.

Have you looked at Turning Stone Casino? It’s in Verona, east of Syracuse but not as far as Utica. They do a fabulous job and have a top notch facility. It’s on the Oneida Reservation so they set their own rules. They’re pricey for Upstate…around $100/head in their ballrooms, but you can rock all night and stay onsite. Their food is amazing and their staff is well trained. There are also four top-class clubs that stay open til two a.m. and then you can head to the casino floor or a VIP room upstairs to keep the party going.
