There are a few in the area (I used to be one :) ) that are awesome and will help as little or as much as you need.
Defnitely try calling Shannon at Weddings Planning Plus. http://www.weddingplanningplus.net/index2.php#/home/ She's fantastic and can give you some great ideas for others if she's already booked.
Good luck! I LOVE the Canfield, so beautiful! Have you booked your other vendors?
@thewheelsonthebus: Thank you! I am in love with the Casino and love that we don't have to worry much about decorations.
Nope, haven't booked the other vendors yet. Want to talk to Lily and the Rose re: catering. Also looking for a band. Family friend will be doing the flowers, and I think I am going to do some serious research on photographers - love lots of the popular photographers but their prices are just too much for me. Trying to balance everything all out.
I will definitely check out Shannon. Any suggestions on vendors to consider or stay away from?
@Ms. Dove: I know what you mean! I wanted JP Elario and even with my heavily discounted friend price it was still way out of my budget.
For photographers, try Niki Rossi or Seth Guistembelli or Heather Bohm-Tallman. Also Jim McLaughlin, Jude Goldman or PJN Photography.
Bands - the best are any of the New York Players group - ALL amazing! And the Karen Lawrence band is great, too.
Yeah, the casino is SO amazing for a setting you really don't need much which is great!
Thank you! So funny - Elario was my first choice. I really appreciate the suggestions and will definitely look into them! The NY Players groups I have heard are expensive - but I am happy to save a little in some areas and then splurge on a fantastic band - want to get everyone on the dance floor!!
I am a little late to this thread, but thought I would weigh in. I hired Christine Wheat as my DOC. So far she has been great. She was happy to customize a package based on what I wanted help with. We have had one meeting so far and we went way over time and my future in-laws asked a whole bunch of questions waaaay outside the scope of what we hired her for, and she was wonderful about it.
As far as bands go, have you considered Soul Session? My cousin used them for their wedding at the Hall of Springs and they were great. Alot of people have recommended NY Players, but I had a very negative experience with them and we ended up booking Soul Session.

Has anyone hired (or plans to hire) a DOC in upstate NY/Capital region? I"m planning on getting married in Saratoga (Canfield Casino) and I am thinking of hiring a DOC for limited help - I honestly don't think I need a lot, just someone to help from when we're getting ready, through the ceremony, through the beginning of the reception. I've looked up reviews and am ready to make a few calls, but just wanted to check with my fellow local brides . . .
