Personally, I get the clothing and accessories, but planning? Flowers? Transportation? really!?

Whoa! I hadn't heard about this yet. I'm not sure I see the connection...?

I'm . . . confused. At least the planning aspects are "potential" add-ons for the future. Apparently while the economy sucks, everyone's trying to get a piece of the bridal pie!

Given the popularity of Anthropologie's dresses and the new crafty, hipster trends in weddings I can see how this made sense.

Seeing Urban Outfitters and wedding together seems a bit weird, but dresses by Anthropologie...could be very cool!

I adore the stuff Anthropologie carries, but sadly its not too budget friendly. I wonder how much their bridal pieces will start at.

@Aug8Bride - I totally agree!  I walk in there all the time and just stare at all the cool stuff, but I never fork over the money.

Very interesting - - yes, I wonder what their bridal line is going to run is $$$ - - I do wanna see how this plays out!!!  I mean in the long run it makes a lot of sense since you see so many Anthropologie-ish hobo rustic chic inspired weddings.

I just don't get it.  It seems like a weird line expansion to me.

I think it's right on par with the wedding trend of "rustic, DIY chic".  However, I never buy clothes at Anthro because I feel like they don't look or feel expensive enough to justify the cost.  I imagine their wedding line will be similar.

Is Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters owned in the same family? That I don't know...

If so, I guess U.O holds a larger share of the market as it's lower end, but I would think Anthro. would want to capitalize on the dresses themselves?

@KLP - Yep.  Anthropologie and UO are owned by the same parent company.  Similar to Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy belonging to the same coporate family.

I love Anthropologie even though I usually can only afford stuff that is only on-sale.  But the dresses totally make sense to me, how exciting!  Their style is so in trend for weddings too.  ON the blog, Style Me Pretty, their pictures always remind me of an anthropologie catalog.

Ok. that makes more sense, and I guess U.O is more widespread.... but I would think the dresses make more sense at Anthro. than U.O. So many people already utilize them for wedding stuff!

The article says that Urban Outfitters Inc. is starting the line, not the Urban stores themselves. Urban Outfitters Inc. owns UO, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain, and Leifsdottir.

I can see Anthro and Leifsdottir doing wedding gowns, but I'd bet they'll be fairly pricey.

i used to love anthropologie, but lately they have taken the shabby chic vintage thing to an extreme. i need a little structure in my clothing :) they used to make amazing dresses with cute details, but now everything is super flowy casual, which just doesn't work for me :( maybe next year.

I was just going to say, if UO is doing a line I would NEVER buy it. UO has HORRIBLE quality. sure they look great but bad bad quality :\

I am so excited about this! I think it is a great idea. I am hoping they will have "little white dresses" for lower price points so I can get one for my after party!

Weird. Nice to know, but it won't change anything for me as I never cared for UO anyway.

I think I'm a bigger fan of Anthropolgie. I didn't know that they were owned by Urban, though...
