I freelance in the wedding industry as a planner and heard about them and seen them in action a few times. They’re good folks! My husband’s sister used Urbane at her wedding in Albuquerque. She was really on the fence about even getting a videographer until we convinced her last minute. They wound up going with Urbane Wedding about one week before the big day because they were convenient, but we were not expecting much.

They gave great service!! She was worried that the video guy would be lame, but he was really awesome, very professional showed up early to make sure he had every angle and spot at their venue covered. They were a GREAT find and if my husband and I renew our vows one day we’d book them in a heartbeat because

A. The prices can’t be beat and B. The whole company is for whatever reason a genuinely happy place from what I’ve seen and heard. Dunno what kinda water they drink over there in AZ but I’ve heard and seen that they have great personalities and a real enthusiasm to get it done. Where most people are scrambling, I think they get excited about the challenge and it shows in what you get. One of their reps met with a client of mine the day before their wedding, they dispatched a videographer and the couple was really happy with what they got. They live for that stuff, which is great because its stressful for some people. As a professional in the industry it makes sense to go with Urbane, I think they have a passion to get it done. If you can get it a good rate even better!!!

I hope they are good because I just put a deposit down with them! Their prices were awesome and they give you a lot. The whole not knowing your videographer is a little scary, though.

Good for you honey! From what I know you DEFINITELY see them two to three weeks prior if you want. They’re flexible. I’ve known the peeps at Urbane for a long time and they’ve got some awesome staff. You’re in good hands… they’re a big company but in my experience personal and professional they communicate well. In my experience passion + effort > snobby + overpriced…  Cool

I was so burned by this company that I had to post this. I went with this company based on their reviews on weddingwire and this thread. They took my deposit and said my wedding date has been “reserved” with their videographers. Two weeks before the wedding, I emailed them for the name of my videographer – was told by Chris Collins that they were working on finalizing the assignment. One week to go… still no name. TWO nights before the wedding, I get an email (no phone call) asking for a final timeline of my wedding, which I emailed back promptly and, again, asked for the name of my videographer… no answer. That was the last time I heard from them.

They DID NOT send a videographer to my wedding. No explanation, no warning… just no-show. Since then, they’ve completely ignored my emails and phone calls. Thankfully, I paid them through Paypal and had to file a dispute to get my deposit back.

I wrote a negative review on WeddingWire… while they completely ignored my emails, they promptly DISPUTED my review. WeddingWire asked me to submit proof showing I contracted with them… which I did… but as of today my review is still “pending verification.”

I am frankly still upset and shocked that this happened, and the lack of contact they provided after the fact. Unfortunately, WeddingWire reviews are heavily skewed toward the positive side and negative reviews are often hidden. I would advise brides who are considering Urbane to categorize the reviews not only as “highest rated” but also read some of the negative ones.

I wish I had a better story to tell, bees, but I really do NOT want this to happen to any other bride. Now I don’t have any video recording of my big day… thankfully I had a fantastic photography team, but the video is something you can never get back.

I have bad experience with Urbane Wedding also. They came to my wedding but didnot fulfill the appropriate service and now I cannot get in touch with them and my files are in their hands. Weddingbee is a trusted site and I hired them trusting weddingbee website. I guess none of the websites are telling us the truth. I can’t express how hurt I am – wedding is a special event, for some its once in a lifetime.

Farzana – sorry for what you’re going through. Has anyone managed to track down the company? They scrubbed their facebook and blog off the internet but last I checked their site is still up and taking “reservations.”

My experience with WeddingWire reviews also left a sour taste in my mouth, which is why I posted this a couple of days ago: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/a-psa-on-weddingwire-reviews#axzz2XQhdijJI Hoping future brides see this!

I too am a victim of Urbane Wedding Company. Chad Koerber and Chris Collins are the owners listed on emails that I have in my papertrail. Beware of anything with these two listed.

There’s a email group that exists right now for people who were scammed by Urbane. MSG me with your email if you want to be put on it. I think we’re just trying to share information and see what we can do together.

Like others, I think I’ve been scammed as well. We hired Urbane for videography to capture highlights of our wedding 5/10/13. Initially, Christopher Collins and Travis Collier (the contacts) were very responsive and organized. They quickly responded to emails. The contract and deposit (read: payment) were so organized and straight forward as well. Even up to the point of the wedding when the inquired about the timeline and to which I sent them.

I thought everything was going well. Our videographer even texted/called us before the wedding to double check arrangements and where to meet. That’s when we realized, we are only getting 1 videographer though Chris and the contract had noted 2. We didn’t initially think it was a big deal (because the videographer was doing a great job of trying to be everywhere at once), but afterwards realized we paid for 2.

Afterwards, we contacted the Urbane (via email) and made them aware of this to which they said “It’s ok – you are paid in full”. We had only paid 50% (the deposit), but we thought “Ok fine, they want us to be happy and gave us a big discount.”

Fast forward to now (the wedding was 5.10.13) – 2 months later and imagine our surprise when we contact the company email receiving a message that they’re bankrupt and another company is taking over for them. Imagine our surprise when we emailed this new company with no response. Imagine our surprise when we called the company with a message stating “Voicemail is full”. Apparently there is no way to contact them. My family is in Houston, TX so maybe I will stop by over at their offices when I’m in town so I can actually speak to a real, live human being. Anyone in Texas do this yet?

The last thing I’ve done is contact our videographer without a response as of yet. He seemed young and friendly and hopefully will be informative and understanding with what happened and give us the honest truth. We just want even just the raw footage at this point, but I’m not so sure we’ll even get this.  🙁  So sad.  We wanted something to show our kids in the future and we wanted to see our first dance which was special because we took dancing classes and had choreography for it, but I’m thinking that it’s a lost cause.

Hi everyone, we were scammed too. Chad Koerber appears to be a criminal. If we all band together we can get him caught. He is currently living in Phoenix, AZ. Here is what you need to do:

1. Report the case to the FBI. Here’s the number to call: (623) 466-1999
(Tell them you’re reporting a widespread scam)

2. Contact the Phoenix Police Department. Most likely they will tell you that they can’t file a police report if you’re not a resident, but insist that you just want to talk to an officer so that they become aware of the situation. The more noise we make, the more likely they are to do anything. Here is their number: (602) 262-7626

3. File a report here: https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

4. Notify Paypal (assuming you paid using Paypal). For me, I had already exceeded the 45 day deadline to contest, but I was fortunate enough to talk to a representative who was willing to waive the 45 thing out of courtesy. If your rep says no, hang up and call again. If you can’t get any traction, just say you want to make sure that it gets on the sellers record so that they terminate his account.

I am SO glad I read this thread! I almost went with Urbane because of their incredible reviews and deals but now I will be looking into other photographers and videographers for my wedding!
