I think that sounds like a good idea! We got little registry cards (similar in size to business cards) that we just tucked in the shower invitations, so that could be an option too since it'll be a couple weeks I'm assuming until they get the invites back from the printer.
@prncss47: I'm not a big fan of sending people to wedding websites....I vote that you just slip a little card in to include when you get the invites back and have decided on stores.
Put the store names. Some people don't use the internet.
PS, what's the big rush? The wedding is 6 months away!
Not everyone uses the internet (GET WITH IT, but true). Stating the names of the stores makes sure that all guests are clear.
When I did the invites for my friend, I just put their website down because they had a few different registries and there wasn't enough room on the invitation, with a note to ask me if they have any questions when they call to RSVP. It worked out fine, but the bride's mom and I knew that everyone attending was comfortable using the internet.
I think you can just refer to the website. Like PP said, people who don't want to/can't log on can easily ask about the registry when they RSVP.
I would say if it HAS to be on the invitation, then just direct them to the website but if you can do the little cards (I've seen it before and AWESOME idea! I carry them around instead of the invitation so if I end up in a store I'm like wait, did so&so register here? OMG! They did! Awesome!) that would give you some more time and is perfect.

We are still in process of deciding which stores we want to register for, but the family throwing my shower want to order the invitations today. Would it be confusing or weird to direct guests to the wedding website for registry information instead of putting the stores directly on the invite (which is what I usually see)? This way, we would have some time to figure out what we want to do for stores.
