Is there any hope for me? My doctor did not sound optimistic. I am devastated.
I’m around 4 weeks and she told me to come in in 48 hours to see if it doubles.
But she did not seem optimistic that it would double. Any hope here??

@Evie19: My HCG at 3 weeks 6 days was 76. Are you closer to 5 weeks? I’m confused by your docs concern…..
Here is a chart
Weeks from LMP (Last Missed Period
Amount of hCG in mIU/ml or IU/l
0 to 5
5 to 426
18 to 7,340
1,080 to 56,500
7 to 8 weeks
7,650 to 229,000
9 to 12 weeks
25,700 to 288,000
13 to 16 weeks
3,300 to 253,000
17 to 24 weeks (second trimester)
4,060 to 165,400
25 weeks to term (third trimester)
3,640 to 117,000
After several days postpartum
nonpregnant levels (<5)

@Evie19: why are you devastated? Mine was 112 at 4w and tripled 48 hours later. The average hcg is 150 at 4 weeks. I don’t understand your devastation?

@Evie19: 600 is a great hCG for 4 weeks! Check this website out:
The average hCG for 14dpo (aka 4weeks) is 100-200.
Beyond that though, the important thing is whether or not the number doubles, despite what it starts out as. Even if your beta was only 60 today, as long as its at least 120 in 48 hours, you’d still be fine.
I think you’ll be absolutely fine!

@Evie19: 600 is actually pretty decent for 4 weeks, depending on when you actually ovulated and implanted. I’m sorry your doctor made you feel insecure. You only implanted within the past week and the level double every 48 hours. Is she having you do a repeat in 48 hours to check if the level is doubling? A single hCG level is pretty much useless at determining whether a pregnancy is viable.
ETA: Sorry just saw that she is doing a follow up in 48 hrs. I bet you’ll see a nice doubled number by then. Good luck!!

Wait…im so confused. She acted like it was really low and that it would be a surprise if it doubled….
Maybe she said 60 and I thought she said 600?

Just was reading your previous post. Looks like you ovulated around the 7th which would put you right at 15 or 16 or so DPO. If I had an hCG of 600 at that time I’d be thrilled!!!

No I just checked on my online test records and it’s 600…
I’m going in for another test on Christmas Day (great f-ing timing) and we’ll see if it doubles. She LITERALLY said it would be a surprise if it doubled.

@Evie19: WTH??? That’s insane!! I can’t understand why she would say that! I hope you prove her wrong! And maybe find a new doc… is this an OB/GYN or a regular doctor?

I just saw on babymed that hcg levels below 1200 miu/ml in early pregnancy need to be doubled in 48 hours…so 600 is considered low…
I’m so confused.
Sorry bees I’m really freaking out here.
No no no, you’re getting confused. Levels below 1200 double every 48 hours. That doesn’t mean the level is low, just that at lower than 1200, the number should be doubling every 48 hours. After 1200 it can slow down to doubling every 48-72 hours.

@jny1179: My OBGYN who is AMAZING is in Greece and I’m in the States for the holidays. i have health insurance here too, so I went in today to do my tests.
I actually can’t stand the doctor here, but she is supposed to have a good reputation.

Look at this chart:
It shows that at 4w0d the level starts around 100, and by the end of week 4 (4w6d) the level can be upwards of almost 5,000. It’s a huge range. But 600 is a perfect number!! I promise, trust me, I’ve had a MC. I have scrutinized more hcg numbers than you can imagine. You are in good shape!!

@Evie19: Yuck, I’m sorry you are dealing with this woman. She’s out there. And sorry but she’s just wrong. I don’t know what she’s thinking.
