I am getting married on September 28th and now I am suddenly freaking out about being comfortable in a strapless dress and worrying about pulling it up all night. My first fitting I wore a bustier, but ended up returning it because it dug into my skin. I figured I would wear a David’s Bridal bustier for 2nd/final fitting and buy one from them. Turns out the dress wouldn’t zip up over a bustier (I’m pretty sure they altered it too small, I have lost like 10 lbs since I bought the dress in Feb), so I decided to forgo any bra. Now I have lost a little more weight and my dress zips up pretty perfectly still, but I just feel like I am going to need something underneath it so It’s really filled in and I don’t feel like the top half is shifting when I dance. I don’t want to pull it up all night. I don’t think I have time to get cups sewn in. Should I order another bustier? What about nubra?? Heeeeelp please! Thank you in advance!!!

@mybelle84: do you have to order it through davids or do they have it on stock? Try any department store(s) as well as Victoria Secrets. I would pull a handful of options, bring them home to try on and then do a return with all the ones that didnt work out.

I just went to Macy’s, JCP, and Victoria’s secret, but none of them had bustiers. VS had those stick on bras with “wings” (they wrap around the sides), but I am scared to buy it and spend money on it and it won’t work. I think I will just order a bustier online and then go to VS as a last resort if busiter doesn’t work, but I am just trying to gauge from others which has worked out best for them. I guess I should mention I am a 34 C.

First of all, I looooove that dress and belt! Where is that belt from? I think I might want something similar for my DB dress!
Okay, undergarments. I really hated how bustiers looked under my dress–I felt like they added bulk and weren’t really necessary for shaping, since the dresses are so structured. I am probably going to have cups sewn into mine, but if not, I will definitely wear my NuBra. I freakin’ love my NuBra, lol. There is an amaaaazing Amazon review that talks about how to put on the thing–you can get a crazy amount of lift from them! I haven’t ever used the VS things with the wings.
Also keep in mind that because of the boning in dress bodices, it’s not like wearing a strapless bra or tube top or something. You definitely won’t have the same “pull it up” feeling, because the dress will just kind of stay up on its own.
And also, you have three weeks–maybe just eat a lot of ice cream?

@howsweetitis: Haha, Thank you for your tips! Want to avoid the ice cream as I am going to Jamaica after!!! Anyhow, I ordered a busiter, but will also get nubra off amazon prime if the bustier shows through dress too much. Belt is from Kate Spade. I love it too! My mom hates it, but I think the dress needs something and it’s totally my style. Thank you!
