Use OPK or just keep up regular intercourse?

I never used OPKs, nor did I temp. The only thing I did monitor was my CM, which was very reliable to determine when I was ovulating.

If you feel like you were pressured when using the OPKs, then I would suggest trying for a while without using them.  Usually they say sex every other day to keep the sperm healthily refilled 🙂

@Lollypops:  I’d go with every other day once you see some EWCM if you don’t want to use the OPKs.

@Lollypops:  I did not use OPKs. We just had sex every day during what I assumed was my ovulation window and I got pregnant on the first try.

DH and I tried using OPK’s, but I never got a true positive.  One day it looked like maaaaaaybe (big stretch) it could’ve been a positive but second test showed negative and the following day was neg too.  We just BD’d every day for like 15 days following my period and ended up getting pregnant that month (first month actively trying).  So, I’m all for just having lots of sex! @Lollypops:  I don’t know for sure as I am by no means an expert on this, but I think it only affects sperm quality if it is already an issue? Not positive, but I heard that once.

If you’re having BDing regularly anyway then OPK’s wont make much difference to your schedule! No point in stressing yourselves out. Saying that I used OPKs in our first month TTC and didnt find them stressful at all – I didnt tell DH when I got a positive so he definately didnt feel any pressure. Good luck!

@Lollypops:  I think if you are BDing enough already you should be fine. I like using OPKs so I have a better idea of when to expect AF since my cycles vary between 26-30 days, so while TTC I like to know when I would be considered ‘late’ before getting my hopes up.

@Lollypops:  BDing every 2-3 days is what TCOYF recommends.  I think using OPKs encourages some women to actually miss their fertility window because they focus too hard on BDing once they see the surge instead of before the surge, and once you surge it may already be too late for that ovum.

We just had sex every day or two! But we also had a very easy time TTC.
