This is my cautionary tale about buying used dresses online…
Found a dress I wanted. Found a seller who was selling it for a price I could afford. I asked for lots of photos. I received photos of her in the dress at the wedding, a picture of it in the drycleaning bag, and two pictures (with blown out flash) of the bottom of the skirt. All looked great. Buyer had stated the dress was cleaned (and, indeed, it was). No mention of any damage/wear and tear. I made the mistake of assuming that her saying the dress was dry cleaned and saying nothing else meant that…well…there was nothing else wrong.
Receive dress. Appalled at condition. LOTS of staining at the bottom (only very minor, light staining at bottom visible in picture). LOTS of fraying around both hips. Dark wine stain on FRONT of dress. Note on dry cleaning tag about “oops” they couldn’t get all the stains out.
It’s now in dispute on PayPal and it’s looking like I will get some, but not all of my money back. I just wanted this to serve as a reminder to everyone to specifically ask “Are there any remaining stains? Please describe any and all wear and tear”. I consider myself smart but wasn’t smart enough to do this. Learn from my mistake!
