Just having a discussion on a local community discussion board and thought I’d ask the Hive to chime in as well!
Someone is selling their car. They’re offering to pay for the inspection and have it ready for whoever comes to look at the car. When I purchased my used car, I paid for my own inspection so I could take it to my own mechanic whom I trusted. When I sold that same car, the girl who bought it also took it to her own mechanic and paid for it.
So who do you think should be responsible for paying for the inspection, prior to purchasing a used vehicle?

I think it’s buyer beware – so it’s on the buyer to make sure it’s inspected by a trusted mechanic.
ETA: The last car I bought I took the the dealer and did a multi-point inspection… I paid for it!

I would take it to your own trusted mechanic. I had a family member who told me to always make sure you get a used car inspected by your own mechanic. When I was selling my old car he actually suggested to the buyer that they get it inspected on their own first before buying it just protect them from any unkown problems and us incase something happened or they lied about something being wrong with it.
