I bought a used dress on ebay and (actually unused) shoes on recycled bride, and I had a great experience with both

@jrgarrett42:  I posted my dress on both of those sites and my dress is going to be brand new. I just happen to have bought a second one so I’m selling the first one that I didn’t love so it’ll be brand new and for less than at the salon since I’m trying to recoup some of the costs.

I bought my Maggie gown preowned and it was a great deal, great experience, great condition, etc.  I did end up trying to sell it because I won a free dress in a contest that I decided to keep instead, but preowned is TOTALLY the way to go if you want a designer gown on a budget!  And it’s so environmentally friendly, too. 🙂

I was scouring those sites before as I didn’t want to pay full price for my dress, I actually ended up buying from a former bee that posted in the classifieds section.  I would count on having it cleaned if it is used tho, I washed mine in a front loader and it came out beautiful and nothing was damaged (my dress has lots of glass beading on it!)  jsut ask lots of questions and request pics of the actual dress and again, expect ot have to clean it.

I am obsessed with those sites and would have totally gone that way if I could have tried the styles I wanted on  in a local shop first (to make sure it looked amazing). I ended up getting a new (with tags on) James Clifford gown- style j1803 from Craig’s List from a Two-Dress Bride. Retail $1049. I paid $200- yay me! Here is what my pre-owned wedding dress looks like:

I really think if you have the opportunity to finad a dress you love in real life and know the style number and size, then you can shop one of these sites and get an incredible deal! Good Luck!

I found my dress on Preownedweddingdress. Just read the description well and you can always message the person selling the dress. I bought mine from a store and they had plenty of good feedback. When I messaged with them, I got them to lower the price a little. They had dry cleaned the dress and offered to send the receipt. I’ve seen some sellers who say they won’t be cleaning the dress (and often explain that it may not need it as there are “minimal stains”), or offer to drop the price if the seller wants to get it cleaned. Some sellers have really thorough descriptions and explain anything wrong w/ the dress. My dress happened to been a sample adn was never altered – I’m short so unless teh seller was shorter than me, it wasn’t an issue if it had been altered (if one of my bridesmaids uses this site ever, it may be as she’s over 6 feet!). You can also ask any seller to take additional photos of teh dress (of course, they dont’ have to – but if you’re a potential buyer, I’d think that they would). I used paypal (and my credit card not debit card) for extra protection in case there was an issue. Some sellers (like mine!) also offer that you can return the dress within a time frame if you’re not happy – I think mine was 7 days so not a lot, but handy. I also had them give me EXACT measurements of the dress – I’ve noticed some people just list a size, but for some styles that may not be good enough (I’m curvy and ordered a fit and flare and sizes vary a ton).

I just bought my dress from preowned wedding dresses!! I had such a great experience. I knew I wanted a fitted lace dress, so I just kept looking for ones like that and finally I came across one in denver about my size. I happen to have cousins that live in denver, and the seller was wonderful and let my cousins come check it out for me. I ended up paying $650 for a $2000 dress and it is in absolute pristine condition. It’s soo gorgeous and exactly what I wanted! She also sent me the veil and sash for free! Also, the seller was so sweet, she asked me to send her a picture of me in the dress at my wedding :). I’m actually more excited that I bought my dress preowned because of the story behind it! I can’t wait to pass my gown on once I’m done with it too 🙂
