I've never really understood why ushers really exist anyway - can people really not seat themselves?? We had 70 people at our wedding, and no ushers. It worked great. Just do whatever makes your life easier!
I have been to a few catholic weddings with no ushers, usually there are also a few of the church ladies around that do that sort of thing anyways, they just kind of jump in and help keep everything running great. I have yet to go to a church wedding at all with none of those ladies around.
No, we didn't have a catholic wedding, but didn't have ushers at all. I would maybe have one family member aware of anybody who has special reserved seating that can recognize them by sight in charge of making sure those people find their seats, but if you're otherwise not picky... no need.
thanks ladies!! :) makes me feel better knowing that im not the only one who thinks like this!

We will be having a catholic ceremony with around 60-100 expected guests & we are having a very small bridal party (my sister as maid of honor and fiances brother as best man) and to be honest i dont feel the need to have any ushers....is it really a role that should be filled? has anyone attended a catholic wedding without ushers? we would have guests seat themselves on either side, not the traditional brides family on one side grooms on other...
