If he's happy to be able to DJ for you at your wedding, why not? Save yourself some money and stress. I got my break as a wedding designer thanks to a friend who wanted me to help her design response cards, so I can say from first hand experience that if a friend is willing, then take advantage. Lack of experience doesn't necessarily mean he won't be a good DJ. Just give him a guideline (in this case, a list of "must have" & "absolutely do not play" songs. In the end you want all your guests to have a good time, and if your friend's definition of a good time is being the music player at your wedding, then by all means!

one of our friends is a dj (for clubs and parties in the city) and recently started his own wedding dj service. he has an awesome personality would definitely work the guests and make them feel comfortable and have them laughing all night. not to mention he'll probably charge us very little, if anything at all.
however, his lack of experience kind of worries me. he's done less than 10 weddings (1 being his brother's and rest people from his church). also, i would rather him be a guest at our wedding, not a vendor. but he's more than happy to be the dj and is really excited about it (even though we haven't definitely said we were using him).
should i use him as our dj or is it safer/better to use someone else? any suggestions/recommendations in the nyc/li area?
thanks in advance!
