I have been having a really hard time picking out bridesmaid dresses for my December wedding; my colors are dark blue and purple, and my bridesmaid are all my older sisters. I have been trying to find a practical dress that they could wear after the wedding was over, and my search has been pretty fruitless.
One of my sisters mentioned she really liked the dress I wore for my engagement pictures, and suggested they could possibly wear that style dress (it comes in dark blue and purple). It’s a very nice dress and would go perfectly, but is it tacky?
Here it is online:

@almorebe: It’s a very pretty dress, and it certainly would not be tacky. However, how will YOU feel about having your e-pics and wedding pics displayed in your home, when it will look as if you wore one of the bridesmaids’ dresses for your e-pics? Even though the e-pics came first, I think it may bother you to see that in the sense that it will take away from you seeing your look in your e-pics as being special and unique to you. Does that make sense?

I think that dress is gorgeous and the price is right. I bet if they wore it in the purple, it wouldn’t be really noticeable!

@Brielle: It definitely does! I actually have no qualms with having them wear the same dress and really love the idea. I don’t think it will bother me to see them in the same dress, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t be taboo.

I think it would be fine, but I’d do it in the purple so its not completely identical.

@almorebe: Definitely not taboo. 🙂 If you have no qualms, then I think you’re fine!

Is there a way to have a dress similar to that with no sleeves? It’s beautiful and I’m secretly jealous and want to steal it from your closet.

I think the dress is lovely, but I would def do it in purple!

How awesome is it that they love a dress that you’ve already worn?! I think it would be lovely in any colour, and it would tie your engagement photos into your wedding ones.

I think it’s a great idea but in purple though. You should be flattered. Plus I’m sure they’ll be able to wear the dress again 🙂

I think it’s a gorgeous dress! I really like it in the blue, I think the lace looks really nice in the darker color. If you wanted it to look different from your engagement photos, you could try switching out the sash for a different color (maybe blue dress/ purple ribbon?) to give it a slightly different feel.

The whole point of bridesmaids is to confuse the evil spirits as to whom the real bride is. So it would make sense for them to wear a dress that you wore!

@Tangled: Ha, this is perfect!
