cls9q:  Some women are prone to UTI’s, but if that is the only one you had, I think you will probably be okay. Make sure you are drinking lots of water, and maybe even some cranberry juice. Maybe a pair of swim shorts would be better than a bikini bottom? Just be sure to shower off as soon as you get back home too. You might even want to take some of those feminine wipes with you to use when you go to the ladies room.

cls9q:  I get UTI’s – literally some of the worst pain I have experienced so I feel you! Since you can’t really tell if it will happen again, I would stock up on some of those cranberry pills that help to prevent UTI’s, and also perhaps do a quick search of a close doctor/urgent care nearby (assuming it might be far from home) so that if you do get one, you can get meds quickly enough and still enjoy your stay. Good luck!!

cls9q:  Look into some cute swim shorts or boy shorts. They have built in bottoms that aren’t super constrictive, and look really cute with a bikini top.

These are cute:

I used to get them a lot in my 20’s. I’m a teacher, so never going to the bathroom immediately was one cause. It’s so frustrating!

I was able to get away from having them chronically by drinking a ton of water, changing the type of panties I use (strictly cotton now- no more sexy lace), going to bathroom more frequently, and NEVER sitting in wet panties. If I’m on the beach, I don’t stress too much because they dry fairly quickly in the sun. But as soon as I’m off the beach, I shimmy those right off, sometimes going comando! It’s not only wearing wet panties, it’s also wearing polyester that doesn’t allow your skin to breath and harbors bacteria.

cls9q:  You can get some cranberry extract from the local drugstore before you leave to take all week– it helps prevent them, but if you are sitting in wet bikinis… Idk how to avoid that… Maybe bring a change of bikini each day in your pool bag? So when your first suit is wet, change into the new one to layout on the beach more and be dry.?

cls9q:  It wouldnt be weird if no one noticed — wearing dry bottoms will prevent it! No one will notice. I would do that and also the cranberry pills for extra measure! you should be good to go then:)

when you get out of the pool rinse off and then lay out in the sun to dry out your bikini. Repeat if you go in the water again obviously.

I’m very prone to UTI’s and had a kidney infection in Nov ’12 worst feeling ever.

TAKE CRANBERRY PILLS! Best UTI prevention ever. I’m really prone to them, but I take 2 every day and have had very few in the past few years.

cls9q:  God, I’m sorry, that sounds horrible. I had one UTI-it luckily didn’t escalate to an infection- and it was absolutely miserable *chills*. It was DH and I were first dating and having sex a lot. I didn’t use the bathroom enough after and welp…UTI. I would do what PPs have said and go ahead and drink cranberry juice. I think there is also an OTC med you can take to help prevent (AZO…something like that?). I can’t remember if it has a preventative choice though.
