I need ideas too! I feel like Christmas was just a few weeks ago and I have no clue what to get him :/
I bought him some homemade caramels from Etsy. He's been talking about these damn caramels his coworker keeps bringing in so I thought I'd pick some up for him.
FI isn't a hubby, YET, but I'm going to burn him a "mixtape" (obviously it'll be a CD). It'll include a lot of different songs that remind me of us or make me think of him. I'm going to have a little letter to go along with it. I will explain the songs and what specifically they make me think of when I hear them.
For instance, "Rain is a Good Thing" by Luke Bryan makes me think of our engagement because he was singing it the entire day on the day he proposed! :)
Last year a friend gave her FI a huge canister of 365 Hershey Kisses. She wrote on the outside of the container "A Kiss for everyday of the year". It was really cute. However, since ya'll already live together idk that that'd be helpful! Lol
We usually don't spend money on gifts, rather spend money on time together. Some things we have done are: fancy dinner, snowboarding, hike, or a day trip. That way we are spending some extra time with each other.
I ordered a set of three canvas paintings that are actually made into frames from Etsy. The paintings run into each other so you hang them on the wall in a row. I'm having our wedding pictures put in them. It was $75 but you can also order a single painting/frame for $35.
I went to the craft store, picked up some scrapbook paper, and made a card for him and wrote a really sweet note. The card came out super cute, and my SO keeps things like that, so I know he isn't just going to throw all my hard work in the trash! I also bought him some slippers b/c his feet are always cold.
My MIL is coming to visit for our first Valentines Day, so I don't know that we'll do anything that day. I'm actually being a pouty monkey about it, but it was the cheapest ticket she could find. Plus, I told her to come whenever she could.
@Moose1209: Can you please share which seller on etsy this is from? Thanks.
I am giving FI a "boys weekend" for V-day. He has been trying to get together with his two best friends for the past 2 years, yet none of them have any sort of organization skills. So, I called his two besties and got everything set up - I am so excited to give him this gift!!
(The boyz weekend won't be over Feb 12, it is set up for a weekend in early April.)
We make cards for each other, and grab some take out food and head to the drive in..we might spend 25 dollars tops!
@stephinPA: Sure! The seller's name is emily013. I haven't received the paintings yet (should get them next week) so I can't give a real review but so far she has been really great to work with. I sent her the three pics I want and then also a picture of one of our centerpieces so she could get an idea of the colors I wanted in order to customize the painting. If I'm happy with them I'm also going to order a single one for my dad's birthday with a picture of us doing our father/daughter dance.
Boudoir pics of moi, a plant he asked for (he didn't know I was already getting something and he kept hinting about how much he wanted it so now I have to get him two presents!) and a homemade card.
I usually do a homemade card and then we'll have a special dinner together. Beyond that, I'm not sure yet....
I don't think this will help, but maybe give you some inspiration for something more personal for you. I made my hubby a sign at a paint your own pottery place. It says
"Peace. Love. Chicken" And then I put the chick fil a logo on it. He loves chick fil a!
Thanks for all the ideas ladies! I just got married in Sept and I have to say I have been slacking on the gifting ideas.
@jayelcee85: That was a great idea your friend had about the 365 kisses. Hubs is a choco-holic!
I am more of spending money to spend time with the person but he is not. There is also this toy that he wants. Those annoying remote controlled helicopters that you see in the mall....i can just see him chasing the cat around the house with it. That may have to wait until Xmas :)
My husband's birthday is 2/12, so I get the double whammy - having to find a birthday present AND a valentine's day present.
This year, I got hubby a nook e-reader for his birthday, complete with black leather case and book light.
For valentines day, since our bed is terrible and neither of us have been sleeping well lately, we bought a platform bed frame and a memory foam mattress as a gift for the two of us. Yay for Overstock.com!
I baked snickers fuge for hubby when we were still engaged last V-day.
@7SEVENJ9: Im in the same situation, my husbands birthday is 2/10, so that night im cooking him a special dinner & dessert and saturday we are going to a hockey game (hes a huge Caps fan) but now what am i supposed to do for v-day? Its so frustrating having to come up with 2 ideas!
@7SEVENJ9: DH got me almost the same thing for wedding/birthday present! (I got a kindle, but also a cover/light!)
We are going half-sies for a couples massage. There was a grouponfor it also!
@rachaelrobin - DH got ME a nook and cover/light for Christmas, so i'm reciprocating now - and when we go back to Mexico for our anniversary, we'll have our e-readers to enjoy by the pool/beach!
I got him a robe. He doesn't have one, and he wore the hotel robe everyday on our Honeymoon. So hopefully he'll like it. A PP mentioned slippers. I got him a pair for his birthday, and honestly, it is his most favorite gift I have ever given him. Who knew? Guys are weird
I made him an xbox vinyl cover that is a pic of us. it's pretty cute :)
@missjyc: Hey, I'm right in your area!! =-) I went to the Village of Rochester mall and at the store called "Francesca's Collections" I got this really cute book. Here it is. I'm still in the process of filling it out but it’s a great book with thought provoking questions about the other person and your relationship. I think it was less than $15 and you can find it at Barns and Noble.

We aren't giving each other gifts. We are taking a day trip to a part of the bay (living outside san fran) we have been wanting to check out and going to a nice restaurant for dinner. Figured we would spend the money on a fun experience together instead of more stuff. I did get him a card though ;)
Creative ideas i do have though! Last year i got him a watch that he had been wanting and made it into a scavenger hunt. I took clues and attached them to different kinds of Reeses (his favorite candy). He had to go throughout the house finding the clues until it lead to the watch!
Popart.com can take a picture and turn it into a canvas pop art piece. I did this for our 1st V-day together and it is still on our wall!
An I love you book is also a good idea. You can take pictures of the two of you and list a differnt thing on each page that you love about him. It helps to pick unique and even funny things i.e. i talked about how i love how he purses his lips together when trying to be cute.
@Steenie: i am terrified to buy that darn helicopter! its a cat thing for me too- i am afraid the cat will revolt and break the new toy! my fiancee will never forgive him! lol
@missjyc: I actually bought him a couple of new CD's- (i know who buys them anymore- he broke his Ipod)-but he hates the car radio and I got him a winter hat for his almamater football team-its a FL based team so its not easy to find winter stuff!
@aandmklover: I like that book idea. I am going ot try to find that. I migh tsave it for our One Year Anniversary.
Just looked it up. It's also at Target for $12
@aandmklover: Love that book! Just checked and my local Barnes & Noble has it in stock. I'm going to check it out. Cute idea!
@Jenn23: aww for some reason i cant see a picture fo the book you ladies are talking about .. do any of you have the name of the book??.. think it would be such a good idea.
@kventures: Go to Barnes and Noble and type "What I Love About You" and the book should pop up. Has a big heart on the front cover. Looks so cute!
I scooped up some tickets to a country concert this weekend but that was on a whim because I saw them and it was a great deal!
For his original gift, I'm making up a big basket of things he always needs but always runs out of, i.e. razors, deodorant, shaving cream/gel, his favorite shampoo, socks, cologne, shower gel, toothpaste, mixed in with cheesy chocolates, a mixed cd, a naughty boardgame ;), a book by his favorite author, a DVD he's been wantin to see, and other v-day classics. He also LOVES fruit roll-ups so I went to their website and personalized a box of them with our picture on them. I hope he loves it!
We tend to go all out for V-Day!
Our dating anniversary is the week after so I am trying to come up with a couple gifts-so hard!
For V-day I am making him a lobster dinner! It's his favorite and we don't have it much because its expensive and I don't like lobster :) I also got him some chocolates and a card.
For our anni. I am making him a scrapbook from the first night we met until now. Kind of cheesy but we are both cheeseballs ;)
@Bostongrl25: I love the scrabook idea! I did this for FI last Valentine's Day. I made a digital one - and it's now serving as our guestbook at our wedding!
Mine travels. A lot. He's actually leaving the morning of V-Day for NYC until Wednesday, but I thought I'd slip a gift in his suitcase. I'm going to buy a journal for him and every trip he goes on, I'll write a little something, or put a picture in there, then slip it back into his luggage. It will be the gift that keeps on giving. :)

hey there fellow newlyweds!
with the ever so big Hallmark holiday around the corner, I can't help but wonder what I'm supposed to do for hubby. we are not usually into vday or sweetest day -- but I got him godiva choco covered strawberries and a cheesy card for this past sweetest since it was our first, as husband and wife.
Per the same thoughts, this valentine's day will be the first we celebrate as a married couple. But I'm blank out of ideas on what to get or do for him! We've spent so many bdays, Christmases, vdays, etc. together that I can't think of anything I haven't already gifted him.
Do you bees have any creative ideas?
I'm on a budget and would like to be more thoughtful that $$$ful. :)
thanks for the help bees!
