Miele! I should have spent the money from the beginning instead of trying others that I thought would save me money!! Miele is great for allergies, too. They run from $500 - $1200 I think? Honestly, worth every last penny, the thing is a workhorse and I've had it for years. My mom has had hers for 10 years!
I got mine online, I think it was allergy buyers club or something with allergy in the title.
Whoa, I had no idea those even existed. They are really expensive, but people rave about them!
I love my dyson! It picks up more than any vacuum I had before it!
We bought this one. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02039335000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
I chose it because it was inexpensive to repair, the parts are very cheap, and it's easy for me to maintain the rollers myself. Plus, is picks up dirt like a champ. We have 3 dogs and allergies, so I needed a workhorse!
I didn't mind shelling out money for an expensive vacuum. Then my Dyson broke, and I realized a more expensive vacuum is also more expensive to repair, and so are the parts! So I went back to good old Bissell. A new belt is $3 haha.
Yeah, definitely a bit more but it's cost me less in the long run. I tried THREE different vacuums before sucking it up (um, no pun intended!) and shelling out the cash for the Miele. The three I bought before that all had amazing reviews too, but they either broke quickly, were so loud I think I damaged my hearing, or they didn't flipping pick up dirt.
I had a Bissell for about 3 or so years- I had to replace quite a few parts on it and in the end it really just stopped sucking up anything.
I showed my husband the cute Miele vacuums, but he's a little wary of the canister style (he likes vacuuming, so if he won't use it I'm afraid I won't buy it...) We are going to go to Bed Bath and Beyond tomorrow to look at the Dysons and other vacuums there up close and personal.
Well, we checked out vacuums at Bed Bath & Beyond today and now we are just comparing the Dyson vacuums DC33 and the DC25. Any opinions?

Hive, I desperately need help picking out a vacuum cleaner. I want something that is effective (we're both pretty allergic to dust) but doesn't need to pick up pet hair because we don't have pets. I want something that has a good warranty, because I tend to have fairly bad luck with vacuums breaking on me. I am ok with bags or bagless. My old one broke and I don't know what to get!!! Price range doesn't matter too much- I'm willing to shell out the bucks if it meets the other criteria.
