So, I’m hoping someone has this and could give me advice…
I think I have what is called a septated hymen…I have like a piece of skin down there, like a loop of some sort. A few months ago, for the first time in my life (I’m 28), I got a tampon stuck on the skin..It was so bad! I was trying to yank the tampon out and it hurt so bad, but was not coming out. i didn’t understand. I then noticed that it was stuck on skin, and that’s how I found out. My husband had to cut.the.tampon.out 🙁
And today, it happened at work. I almost had a panick attack right there. Of course I was alone, so it took like 10 minutes to pry it out easily.
Ugh, do you think the gyno can just cut it? This is only the second time in my life it’s gotten in the way, but I don’t want to deal with that horror again – especially at work.

@luli29: Ouch! I’m sure they do it all the time. It may be covered by your insurance. Make an appointment and go speak with your doctor.

I’ve heard of docs cutting especially thick hymens for virgins, so I’m sure they could do it for you. Bring it up at your next pap appointment if you’re not in a rush.

Agree that I’ve heard of doctors breaking and cutting people’s hymens (one of my best friends had to have her doctor break her hymen – after being married for over a month she and her husband couldnt’ successfully have intercourse). I would talk to a gynecologist (vs primary care doc) to see what they have to say. It sounds like it is influencing your quality of life, so definitely talk to your doctor.
