I got engaged 2 days after valentines day last year. My FI was out of town for the real valentines day. We had a nice dinner at home and then went for a walk in the snow down by a pond where we live. It was super romantic and I had no idea it would be that night (I had thought he would be asking soon though..).
I can't believe it's already been a year, only a couple more months to go. :)
My good friend was just telling me how about a month ago her BF was like "Is it too traditional to propose on valentines day?" and she was like "No, but IMO it would be a little tacky"
She didn't really get that he was asking about him and just thought he was having a conversation while they were both reading the paper one morning...She said she felt really bad about it, but it is how she feels. She got by V-day with out an engagement this year, but we all think it's coming pretty soon! Maybe St Pats....lol.
i just got engaged the weekend before valentine's day when my fiance (yeah, i'm enjoying that word:) came to visit. he'd been leading me on for months to believe he was going to do it later in the spring.
DH proposed 4 days before Valentine's in 2005...he was ready, but just felt like Valentine's Day was too Cliche....he really isn't all mushy like that!
Dang...it's been 3 years since we got engaged....crazy!
I got engaged this valentines day! It was really nice we went out to eat with his parents and a few close friends of mine and it was AMAZING! I am a young bride only 19 so I need all the help i can get! I want a Camo wedding! Any Ideas just holla!
My DH had three of his colleagues propose to their girlfriends on Valentine's day. I guess that's popular here in Singapore! I also have friends who got married on Valentine's Day boy was that expensive
My fiance proposed to me on Valentine's Day of 2006, so we just celebrated the 2 year anniversary of our engagement. He has always been one to hate Valentine's Day because of all the commercial aspects of it, so it completely took me by surprise that he chose that day to do it. I had known that it was coming some time that year, but he chose that day because he knew I would never see it coming and now we have something really meaningful to celebrate every V-Day. It was really romantic...on the beach at sunset...
Congratulations everybody! My FI proposed on my birthday. He made plans for a great weekend getaway, reservations at a fabulous hotel and restaurant, there were flowers waiting in the room... I thought it was my birthday present (we always go out of town for a nice weekend for my birthday) so the ring was a total surprise!! Since we picked out the ring together, and I knew he had it, I think it would have been hard for him to get the big, romantic setup he wanted without another special occasion as the excuse.
I know holidays are very popular for engagements! We got to witness a beautiful Valentine's Day Engagement at a local resturant!
Any newly engaged brides around this week? If so, holla! Oh and show us the bling!
