I think it is a super cute idea! What about using a vintage Valentine template?
One thing to think about is timing though. I was on top of things and our STDs still went out two weeks late. If you are doing a seasonal thing you would have to make sure they go out on time.
I think it's an *awesome* idea! And I'm jealous that my STDs are already done, or I'd consider doing something just like it :)
Ohhh ... good idea! I didn't even think about Vintage! I FLOVE the one with the boy in and the girl in the car!
What if I did the Valentine on the front, and the card opened up (either top-bottom or sideways, like a regular Hallmark card) and inside was our STD info?
Awww...sooo cute. I think that is an adorable idea! I think you will have a very easy time making them since you're sending them out right around valentine's day! You will find a ton of stuff at your local crafts store. I would just try a bunch of different ones and see which looks best. I would put some heart confetti in the envelopes. You could also alternate between red, white, and pink and make like 3 different ones. You could do a white cardstock border with red paper / pink paper, and red cardstock with white paper / pink paper, and pink cardstock with white paper/ red paper. You could cut the paper with the craft scissors to give a cute edge. And, you could also buy some heart paper punchers that cut out hearts on the paper before you stick it on. Maybe do like one in each corner or something. That way whatever color cardstock you have underneath will also be the color of your hearts. They will be so cute. You could definately use red envelopes, and maybe some cute red or white ribbon around the STD. I wanted to have a Valentine's Day wedding, so I am so into all the different options there are. Good Luck!
@ Cupcake: I liked the one with the car too!
You could do all kinds of things with this. You could just do a flat valentine with your info printed on the front in a small envelope, you could do a folded card with your info inside, you could even do a postcard on the cheap.
This sounds SO cute! Go for it! Start now though, so that they'll go out on time!

Hi Bees,
Help needed in the creativity department! I had a thought for STDs -- my wedding is October of 2010 so our STDs would need to go out around February, I think. I thought it would be really cute if I could get them to drop into mailboxes around the 14th or so, and I'd DIY them using kiddie Valentines Day cards. I'm thinking maybe white or pink card stock with our info on them (something I can put through our home printer, basically) maybe glitter, ribbons ... I'm still formulating it. I'd like them to look like a Valentine you'd get from a girlfriend at school, but I don't know if it translates.
So my questions are: 1) Do you think this idea is good/will work/won't be confusing? 2) Any suggestions for creating them?
Thanks!
