We will be flying back to Chicago from San Francisco together on Valentine's Day. He has to be there for a week for training and I am not one to pass up the chance to stay in a swanky hotel for free!
Valentine's Day has never been a big day for us, but we are going to make sure we doing something more "us". Probably touring the Anchor Steam Brewery.
Yay Chicago! My fiance loves beer and brewing, so the Anchor Steam Brewery would be great, I'm jealous! However, we will be in Chicago- I wish I had your week! We should go tour Goose Island.
restaurants are always so crazy on vday. most likely we'll just stay in.
The Goose Island tour is alot of fun! For $5 you learn a ton, get a pint glass, and sample a bunch of beers that gets you pretty drunk. I highly recommend it. Just make sure you make a reservation.
BF and I are going to keep everything low key. Yesterday was our three year anniversary and with work and the economy we are both trying our best to save money and just enjoy one another's company.
LOOOVVEEE Goose Island! :)
We always go out to nice dinners too and I feel like staying home and cooking together would be more meaningful. We decided no presents this year.
Great ideas- for some reason I forgot about restaurants being packed. I hate how they invent a special menu (meaning special new prices) for the day.
Also, the Chicago History Museum will have $0.01 admission from Thursday, Feb 12th to Sunday, Feb 15th in honor of Lincoln's 200th birthday.
I think I am cooking! NYC restaurants are nuts on vday - expensive with generally mediocre food. My bday is 5 days after, so I always take responsibility for V-day - its too much for my husband to have to plan both, plus this way I make sure to keep him focused on my bday :)
Hmm...it's on a Saturday this year, yay! I'll be bawling my eyes out watching all of my romantic comedies in a Valentine's Day Movie Marathon hosted by moi!
We can't stand the crowds and lines on vday so we're going to be celebrating early (today actually) with a nice dinner. On the day of we'll probably just relax at home and enjoy our time together.
I am cooking my FI favorite dinner. I am having to kick him out of the house and sending him on this wild goose chase thanks to one of my Girlfriend's! Then having the house all DIY'd up. I am taking conversation hearts and spelling out I love you on our table and hanging hearts from the ceiling with things that I love about him! Dorky I know! But also a little extra that night ;-)
We're probably staying in on the 14th and I've forbidden my husband from buy overly expensive flowers or chocolates (I told him to wait until the day after when it all goes on sale!)
On the 15th we're going to see Dirty Dancing The Musical. I have a healthy obsession with the movie and don't really care if the musical is cheesy- I want to see it!
And before the show we're using a gift certificate we got as a shower gift to go to a super fancy French restuarant.
I actually have my second dress fitting on V-day morning! =) YAY!!
We'll probably stay in and make a yummy meal that evening, maybe watch some new movies via on-demand (gotta love digital cable). Keeping it low-key this year!
i will be in Washington DC for the first time. My FI's bday is the day before, and we are both huge history nerds... so we are taking a 5 day short vaca to DC!!!! i am psyched! :)
I'm making him cook. I got him a cookbook for our anniversary and he has to make me something from it. I cook for him all the time anyways. I already gave him his present though, *slap on wrist*.
Natural History Museum (I know, dinosaur skeletons aren't very Valentine-like.. but they're fun!) and takeout sushi. I don't care for the crowds at the usual romantic spots, and we can make our own romance at home.
Staying in. First year together, we stayed in and cooked together and it was wonderful. Second year together we went out and it was crowded and expensive and the food was only ok. This year, we'll cook again. I haven't ever gotten nice flowers on V-day, though. I hope I do this year. The next day we are going to a black tie awards show for his work, so that will be our nice get-out-of-the-house V-day celebration.
We will be visiting our college, where we met, and have plans to do a double date dinner with two friends we also know from college at a restaurant in town. :)
This will be the first valentine's day that we are actually together because we've always been away at different colleges. This year the FI will be in town for a job interview, so we're using the weekend as a chance to meet with lots of different vendors! Not sure what we'll do in the evening though.

What are you all going to do for this lovey-dovey day?
I have no plans yet. Last year I had a kidney infection and almost keeled over at dinner but after some antibiotics I made it out to Medieval Times later that week.
We go out to dinner all the time, so I feel like I should cook up something new.
