One year we picked a set budget and went to the dollar store and bought supplies to make something for the other. DH made me a lunch bag with my initials on it (LOL!) with personalized tupperware. I made him a cake, and a scrapbook page with photos I printed off at home. It was really fun to get creative with him!
What about just making a playlist with meaningful songs, and making a nice meal or dessert after the kids are in bed?
OR you could just break out some lingerie you haven't worn in a while and celebrate that way ;)
This year we're making cards for each other but I may surprise him and send him cookies as well (we're LDR). Valentine's Day is a month before our anniversary so we don't usually go all out.
@bakerella: I vote for lingerie!
We are just doing a small gift, DH had my earrings cleaned at Tiffany's (which I asked for) and I bought him a pair of cufflinks. We'll probably go some place simple like sushi for dinner and then are going to give eachother pedicures, lol!
Well my ( our) son and I are going to add to the scrapbook we started him, and then we are also going to bake him a delicious yummy cake! Oh and I'm going to buy him a stylus thingy for his Ipad because I think he'll like it :)

I'm looking for some cheap creative DIY ideas that we could possibly do at home after the kids go to bed?!
Last year we didn't get to go out, it just didn't work in our schedules so at the last minute I put up white christmas lights in our dining room and we had a romantic chocolate & fruit fondue dessert and a bottle of wine after the kids went to bed. I just snuck around the house close to bedtime and set it all up quietly, so when books were done it was ready for us and he was shocked he had no idea. It was something so small and easy but meant a lot to him.
So this year, I have a feeling we won't get to go out again, and I'm quite broke. I also don't want to do the exact same thing. I'd like to do something different, but similar? Any ideas?
