wow. gorgeous! a friend is making mine. it is completely inspired by a dress that was made on Project Runway. I just fell in love.
so for my late night dessert and cocktail wedding, i will be wearing something like this:
@Mollytov: Ooh so awesome! I love dresses that are different :)
oooh! cute. Your dress will be one of a kind!
Mine is from Lisas. All I have though is a shoddy cell phone picture so Im going to wait until my first fitting next month and then take some better ones. I`m so excited (and a little nervous) to see it again.
@sakebomb: How was your service at Lisa's? I had a few friends who had bad experiences there.
I bought mine from the Bridal Gallery in New West. It took over seven months to come in, and didn't arrive until 3 weeks before my wedding, but apparently that was an issue with the factory, and the store was very helpful and responsive to my increasingly frequent calls wondering if it was there yet.
I don't have my pro pics back yet, and this is one of the few guest snapshots that show it from top to bottom. Cut off my head because my facial expression is not cute.
I didn`t have any problems but to be fair it was at the end of 2 long days of searching so I pretty much knew exactly what I wanted at that point so I think I was an easy customer!
I really liked the service at the Bridal Gallery they were great. The only place I would complain about would be Bello on main. She didn`t have much patience at all!
@SapphireSun So pretty!
@sakebomb: Glad you didn't have a problem there! I didn't head downtown to look for dresses since my friend didn't have much luck so I never went to Bello. :)
Hi ladies - I'm a bit late to the game, but I had my dress custom made by Milly Bridal in China. In hindsight - I wish I just found a dress I liked in one of the boutiques..but none of the stores had dresses with ruffles yet (I went dress shopping around Spring 2009).
toothfairyb - *droool* I walk by that dress a lot when I go to Brentwood Mall! It's STUNNING!
Here's my dress :)

@MrsBtobe: So pretty! I shopped in Oct 2009 and there weren't many ruffly dresses than either, but they seem to have exploded since then! I wasn't into pickups, and wanted to find something different, and the dress I picked was one of the only ones I found with ruffles.
@SapphireSun: Love it! I'm (obviously) a huge ruffle fan too :)
Thanks Mollytov...its actually the melissa brooch by maggie sottero but i added lace at the top to help hide the "assets" :)
it was sooooooooo hot that day :( Oh well... I suppose better then rain...but (probably TMI) I have never sweated like that before!!! just awful!
I bought my dress at the Briday Gallery as well - it was my first day of searching the the second shop I'd been too ! Found my dress right away - never needed any altering !! Just got married a couple months ago so here's the dress !!
Needless to say we got married in Stanley Park with the reception at the Teahouse !! They did a magnificent job !!!
You guys look awesome!!! I can't wait till I find my dress.... still searching, sadly :(
Hey Ladies!! we are organizing a bee meetup in vancouver and would love if you could come.
Here is the thread http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/vancouver-bee-meet-up
Found mine at Lisa's bridal.
The service has been ok, I was disapointed as I came in with one specific dress in mind and asked her about it when I first arrived but she didn't go look into it until the end of the appointment and I was almost in tears. We started the appointment looking for type of dresses I was looking for then by the end we were so far from what I wanted. Plus I'm a size 18 and she was trying to stuff me into a size 8 and 10 dresses, ... flattering but really? not gonna work. She actually caught my arm as I was trying to get out of a dress and caused me to bleed.
Finally she found the dress I orginially asked for but I was so overwhelmed by the experience I wasn't able to commit to the dress. I went back a week later after trying a few more stores and bought the orginal dress. I found out afterwards that it was a new consultant but I was surprised that she didn't have a more experienced consultant with her to make sure the bride was being heard.
I don't usually complain but this was suppose to be a special experience for me and I feel like I lost that. Sorry about the rant bees!
Hopefully this doesn't happen again to anyone else.

Here's the dress, I am really excited about it and can't wait to wear it!
Awesome thread, glad it got revived! (and don't know how I missed it before!)
I got my Barbra Allin from Bisou Bridal, although according to their website they no longer carry her designs, so I'm glad I found mine before that!
I had an incredible experience with Bisou and would definitely recommend them. My mother and I had been visiting different bridal stores feeling out what was available in Vancouver, so we didn't have an appointment, but we were greeted like old friends all the same. After listening to my short list of things I wasn't looking for in a dress, the consultant said she had some ideas of what would suit my figure. A matter of minutes later, I was in a fitting room with 6 dresses waiting for me to try on, and she nailed it with the very first dress!
I received the same great treatment with every other consultant I dealt with during fittings, and their seamstress was efficient and conscientious of all my requests and concerns. If I had to do it all over again, I would go there agan in a heartbeat.
And without further ado, here's my dress!
Mine was super easy. I went 5 days after he proposed and wasn't planning to buy we didn't even have a date yet. Anyways I was in love with essence of australia and Lisa's bridal had my online love so I went to them first. I told her what I wanted and she picked 1 that didn't look great but gave it a chance along with 6 others. I tried on her pick first, i liked it but wanted to try more especially the essence dress.
The essence didn't compare the number 1 which I tried on again and loved it. Here she is. The price was right the dress was exactly what I wanted so I bought with a year and a half to go...

Mollytov was asking to see dresses and I agree with her! Let's see your dress! Where did you shop? What was good and what was bad?
I went to the Bridal Gallery in New West and Sposa in New West. I purchased my dress from the Bridal Gallery and was happy with the service there. Nothing really bad to say about Sposa either but they didn't have tons of options of dresses to try.
Without further ado...my dress!
