If I hear Future Mother-In-Law, Future Father-In-Law, or Fiance say this again I might scream! I am going to go, “MAH NILL UH!” Their whole family mispronounces everything and it drives me crazy. I know, compared to some in-law situations that is no real problem. But, for some reason it irks me beyond belief. Candleabra is” candlearbor”, Okabashi is “Osh Kosh B’ Gosh”, Pomodoro’s is “Pomodores”, Physician is “Fizzasin”, Ulta is “Ultra”… I could go on forever baby!

BAAAAHAHAHA! I can relate! My FI’s parents have ridiculously thick Boston accents and some of the things they say are hilarious. For example: Chim-en-ey or chimney, idear for idea, etc (not to mention the dropped ‘r’ and added “ed” at the end of every word. PS I’m a speech therapist…

LOL. One of my grandmothers pronounced “pizza” as PIZ-uh, as in, rhymes with “is a”. My other grandmother couldn’t say “Suzuki”. Whenever she said something about my dad’s car, it was the ZOO-ZOO-key.
And I inherited my mother’s pet peeve of people pronouncing mischievous as miss-CHEE-vee-us.

My friend’s grandmother has called his brother Jeremy “Jem-er-ee” for years. Just now, when he’s in his mid 30’s has she figured out how to correctly pronounce his name!

Also, my dad grew up thinking a screen door was called a “scream door” because my grandmother would stand at the door and yell for him to come in at dinner time, haha. He didn’t figure that one out until sometime in his teens.

Sometimes those things annoy me (moreso when on purpose), but FFMIL says pee-not nore for pinot noir and I think it’s the funniest/cutest thing ever.

Lmfao! A couple of weeks ago, these peopl on TV did something really stupid. I guess Future Mother-In-Law really wanted to sound smart, so she said, “How inconspicuous of them!” She didn’t mispronounce the word, but she sure did use it wrong! I live in the south and a lot of people say “Deddy” instead of “Daddy” that really makes me nuts!

The whole family (FI’s) calls Bratwurst, “Brockwurst”.
FMIL’s salon is called Bella Lago, and she calls it “Bellargo”.
Fiance keeps calling HH Gregg, “HH and Greg”, and Mount Airy is “Mount Aries”.
I am sure there are more I am totally forgetting (FMIL does this several times a day), but I will put them here when I remember.
