Congrats on the new vanity! I have a dressing table that belonged to my Great Great Grandmother. I’ve had it since I was a little girl, and I love having a spot to sit and do my thing. Makes me feel all girly and stuff. 🙂

As for acquiring products, just go wander around Sephora and Ulta. You’ll be fully stocked (and broke) in no time. haha It would help to know a bit about what you want to add, what skin type you have, and any quirks/preferences/dislikes you have, etc. to point you in the right direction. How long do you spend in front of the mirror every day? How long are you willing to spend? Or are you looking more for special-occasion products?

My 20 minute routine for a normal workday is:

Hair- scrunch with Deva Light Curl Gel (I have fine, naturally curly hair)

Face moisturizer- CeraVe (normal-dry skin)

Body moisturizer- Curel

Make-up- Smashbox CC Cream (thought I think I’m switching back to their BB cream after I finish this tube), Amazing Concealer (for blemishes), Benefit Fake Up concealer (for my dark under eye circles), NARS blush and contour powder, Smashbox highlighter, Urban Decay Naked Basics eye shadow pallette, NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner, a quick curl of my lashes, a swipe of lipstick (favorites from Tarte, Stila, and Clinique), and seal with a few sprays of Urban Decay All Nighter (Tarte’s Amazonian Clay setting powder is too drying for my winter skin, but is my go-to in the warmer months)

If I’m having a lazy day, I skip the contour powder, highlighter, eye shadow, and eye liner. Oh, and I am on the prowl for the perfect mascara. The Bee just suggested I give Maybelline and Benefit mascaras a chance, so I went out and bought 2 mascaras yesterday that I will be trying over the next few weeks. I need one that doesn’t flake or give me racoon eyes by noon.

@mrsjordan53014:  New vanity, how fun! I use a lot of Mac products. I swear by their eye paints. A pretty make-up brush holder always looks good. I have all my perfumes on my grandmother’s mirrored tray on mine, which is pretty. Personally, I love channel #5. It has such an iconic look to the bottle and it’s my favorite perfume.

Hm, since you don’t have alot of makeup, I would say you could go on ebay and order a few makeup lots [usually unopened, sometimes slightly damaged makeup], and get a feel for what things you want.

You can normally get 13 pieces for around $10 – comes in a random mix so you might not like everything, but you’re bound to like some of the stuff.

The last one I ordred was a 30 piece lot of Hard Candy, cost me like $22. I obviously didn’t like everything, but there were ALOT of items I liked and kept. The rest I gave away to friends/family who liked those colors, and the rest I gave to my niece for play.

Here are a few links if you are interested

10 piece mixed lot for $9.88

10 piece hard candy for $12.99

10 piece mixed lot for under $10

10 piece maybelline, covergirl, loreal for $18

25 covergirl, maybelline & more for $40

There are MANY more options on ebay if you want to sift through them! Most of them have free shipping.

I don’t have a ton of makeup stuff either. So to organize my dressing table, I bought a bunch of antique vanity mirrors, and they each hold different thing.  One for nail polishes, one for hair stuff, one for makeup, and one for lotions and perfumes. It looks nice without being too cluttered.

I just got a vanity a few weeks ago from Ikea. I love make up! I love drugstore brands. I love the Revlon just bitten lip stains, matte/lacquer balms and Maybeline Vivids. Revlon colorstay for combo skin foundation is my fave.
