We have a vegan coming to the wedding and we are planning to have meal for him… but we’ll have be having other snacks during the night ie cookies, smores, etc… However I realize he can’t eat these. Vegans any easy snacks we could whip up that others would also enjoy?

Popcorn (obviously no butter) would be something quick and easy. Pretzels, nuts, hummus & pitas, chips and salsa…
If you go to – http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Everyday-Cooking/Vegetarian/Vegan/Main.aspx – they have a whole section of vegan stuff. You can see ratings too. You could just tell your vegan friend that they are okay to eat and most people probably wouldn’t even know : ) Good Luck!

i second the suggestion of hummus and pita.. also, chips and salsa, guacamole etc.
oreos just so happen to be vegan as well, as are a few other “mainstream” cookies and snacks!
here is a huge list of “accidentally vegan” snack items.
honestly, as a vegan i don’t expect to have much to eat at such events and i would be super excited that the hosts thought of my needs at all! it is so nice of you to want everyone to be able to enjoy the night 🙂

I cannot tell you how absolutley GRATEFUL your friend is going to be that you’re putting so much thought into them being there!! I’m vegetarian, not vegan and it’s STILL SO hard to eat at weddings, company parties, etc. This is extremely considerate of you!! 🙂 Here’s a great blog with vegan recipes. I’m not sure how quick and easy they are though. If you don’t find anything shoot me a PM and I’ll ask for ideas from all my vegan friends. Peace & Love!!
CMK– I really hope you weren’t implying that she lie to her friend saying things were vegan when they aren’t.

Peaceluvinbride: I think she was probably saying that most people won’t know that these are “vegan” foods. I personally am not vegan, but I am non-dairy and enjoy lots of vegan food. However many people might think vegan = ewwwwwww.

Ahhh….thanks Hot Child. I get it now and she’s completely right!! I feed people vegetarian/vegan food ALL THE TIME and don’t tell them until AFTER we’ve eaten and they’ve raved about how delicous everything was.

I agree, you are incredibly thoughtful. I’m not vegan, although I am vegetarian, and typically I expect to pick at side dishes at these kinds of events. Definately check out that list, and if you have at least one thing (oreos, graham crackers before they get mushed with marshmallows and milk chocolate) that should be great.
