We were just in Vegas in October, and we stayed at NYNY, which is I guess one of the mid grade hotels but was pretty cool, and had excellent service. So I don't know too much about hotels besides the lobbies. I think next time we go we're going to go with Paris. It's really central, which is nice, and again, wins for the cool theme factor. Bellagio and Venetian were pretty fancy, but I couldn't tell you anything about the service.
We did go see a couple shows though. You'll see advertising for Blue Man Group EVERYWHERE, but I thought it was pretty terrible. Luckily we got a really cheap ticket, because I came out thinking maybe you were supposed to on something when you watched it.
However, Cirque de Soleil's O was AWESOME. Even if you've seen a cirque show before, the star of this show is the theatre itself, and the things the performers can do are amazing too. We got tickets for half price because they were 'limited view', but that really only meant that one side of the stage, you couldn't see the performers come on stage for about half a second, but at some point somebody complained so they slashed the price of the two seats closest to the edge of each row just to avoid bad press. If you're on a budget, that saved us quite a bit.
I went and saw Cirque's Mystere, which was fantastic. I am dying to see "Love," the cirque show to Beatles music!
I have seen Mystere twice & while in Vegas for our wedding, will be seeing it again. O is also excellent. I haven't seen Ka or Zummanity (has nudity), but would love to see both. Where you want to stay depends on how much you want to spend. Caesers Palace is a great hotel, as is TI (Treasure Island). If you have the money to splurge on a hotel, stay at Bellagio. I have heard it is wonderful! Hope this helps!
Go see Love, it is awesome!!!!
As for hotels, it depends whether you want a super nice room or a deal. Hotels like Luxor, NYNY, MGM, Monte Carlo, Harrahs, Flamingo, and Ballys will be cheaper to stay in. Planet Hollywood, Bellagio, Wynn, Caesar's, Venetian, and Palazzo are in more desirable parts of the Strip. TI and Mirage are in good locations and tend to have cheaper rooms too. AVOID IMPERIAL PALACE!
I agree that the Cirque shows are great! I've seen O, Ka, and Mystere and loved them all, but I think I enjoyed Mystere the most.
I've really enjoyed staying at the Bellagio, the Venetian, and the Paris. I've heard that Wynn is awesome too.
Have fun!

Hey Hive!
For our Honeymoon the FH and I are going from a road trip from our home in Victoria, BC, to my familys vacation home in Palm Springs, CA. On the way down we're going to do a night in Vegas and try to catch a show.
I was wondering if any of you lovely bees have hotel or show recommendations for while we're in town. I've only been to Vegas once when I was like 13 and I can't remember anything about it.
I'd like the hotel to be pretty luxurious and upscale and on the strip.
Also any other recommendations (restaurants, shopping) would be appreciated!!
