I would check if the vegetarian eats eggs. I’m a vegetarian, and I eat cheese and chocolate and some milk but I don’t eat eggs.

Not sure about where you live,  but most of the grocery stores in my area (Australia) have Quorn brand stuff that’s meat and soy free. They have little sausage rolls, meatballs, “chicken” dippers etc.

Another option would be spinach and fetta triangles/puffs, vegetarian samosas, vegetarian spring rolls etc that you can buy frozen and heat up.

ETA: falafel balls and hommus dip!

@Cynderbug:  Just want to say that if you eat seafood you are not vegetarian. Your guest would be pescatarian.

If she eats fish why not do cream cheese and slamon finger sandwiches.

For vegetarian options different varieties of bruschetta, savory muffins (zucchini and corn or sundried tomato & feta), jalepeno poppers, mini pizzas.

Vegan options (so no animal products at all) rice paper rolls, dolmades, stuffed baby peppers, baked quinoa bites.

@lil_possum:  Sorry to thread jack OP but i was so glad when they started stocking Quorn. We are so far behind here in meat substitutes being available in supermarkets. i make a mean meat pie with the mince that fools my niece and nephew who wont eat vegetarian (eww gross is the comments).

Confirming if this guest eats things like eggs, milk and cheese is probably a good thing.

As for vegetarian options, remember the simple stuff — it doesn’t have to be complicated! I always appreciate things like fruit salads/fruit trays, veggies and dip, hummus, caprese salad, or veggie wraps. If you’re feeling adventerous, tofu or black bean sliders might be good. Also keep in mind things like pasta salad that can be vegetarian but often aren’t made that way.

@Cynderbug:  Bean and corn dip (beans, tomatoes, onion, corn, lime), fruit and cheese, hummus and chips, and nuts are great options.

@Cynderbug:  Shrimp salad should be a hit.  Fresh stuffed tomatoes or zucchini is also pretty good and usually pleases more than just vegetarians (no cheese or eggs unless you confirm that they eat it because if they don’t it can give them really bad intestinal problems.)
