Hmm. I don't suppose vegetarians would want to eat imitation crab? Come to think of it, I don't even really know what that is...maybe that's a bad idea.
Some hearty marinated mushroom dishes might work. Done properly, portobellos taste just like steak. You could also try a really hearty vegetarian casserole of some sort.
you could do veggie versions based on your non-veggie menu, such as corn chowder and portabella mushrooms (in a ravioli, or grilled like amy sue's idea). you could also provide some good dinner-type salads, like grilled asparagus with mozzarella and tomato, mixed green beans with spicy tomatoes, or a grilled endive salad. grilled bell peppers stuffed with rice, corn, and other veggies make a nice entree as well. eggplant can also be hearty, and is wonderful grilled.
i think veggie burgers are probably too casual if you're serving the meat-eaters lobster, steak, and steamers.
if you're going with the grill theme, you could also have grilled peaches/pineapple that could be enjoyed be all, so no one feels left out.
It's really nice of you to think about a vegetarian option. Definitely stay away from imitation crab (it's still made from fish). I think doubling up on skewers or having some sort of portabella mushroom dish would be great. Having a hearty vegetarian soup would also be really nice. Mushroom, skewers, potato, and veggies would be a great vegetarian option.
Are you planning to have a lot of vegitarians at your wedding? I only have one coming, so I'm not offereing the option to everyone, just letting her know that there will be a plate made available for her.
I think that wth the skewers, and the cveggie burgers and baked potato and salad, thats pleanty to choose from for them.
Maybe the options don't feel right to you because it's not normally something you would eat together, but for a vegitarian I think it would be fine, as they are used to the type of meal.

Hey! I was wondering if any one has any suggestions for a vegetarian option for a Clambake reception? The caterer offers Veggie burgers and skewers (which is also a side for the lobster/steak dinner), but I don't if that is the right feel? The only other thing I could think of would be to double up the grilled veggie skewers, baked potato and salad? If it helps, the non-veggie dinner is Chowder, Steamers, Lobster and steak, baked potato, veggies. Thanks...
