Do you have any photos of what you mean by wanting a veil to be poofy?  The veils I’ve tried on all tend to lay flat so I’m not sure what you mean.

The only thing I think you might be refering too by poofy would be the gathering? Do you mean how some veils poof up higher on your head rather than laying flat against your hair? That effect is created by the tulle being gathered closer together to give more fullness not with hairspray or starch 🙂

what about adding some beading along the edge of the top tier? That way it will stand out against the bottom tier better

@caroline5:  I know exactly what you are meaning…I had to adjust my daughter’s first communion veil, it lay flat on top of her head and hung straight down like flat hair.   Get a needle and white thread, gather the tulle at the base of the comb.  then when you flip the veil as it would sit on your head, tack it under the underside of the curve of the comb…hope that makes sense.  the thicker and bunchier your stitching, the fuller it will be at the top…you really cant screw it up if you do it evenly.  ours turned out beautifully, and i am not a girl that sews….

you can keep bunching and gathering untill it is what you want, dont regret…it took me a couple hours…
