Hey Ladies 🙂
I recently ordered a BEAUTIFUL cathedral length veil online. My big worry upon ordering it was wether it would match my ivory dress. When I got it (today) and found that it matches my dress perfectly I realized that I have another problem….it doesn’t have the comb attached. When I ordered it, this didn’t seem like a big issue. I was focused on the color and the AWESOME deal that I was getting. Now, looking at a totally gigantic oval of lace…it feels like a bigger problem. Has anyone made their own cathedral veil? Any advice?

Here’s a DIY tutorial I found via googling. Might be of some help to you.

@MsMarty: Don’t worry attaching the comb is the easy part. Most any sewing shop will carry the combs, they come in clear plastic (the cheaper alternative at around $2, or metal at aroung $9). You’ll probably have to ask because they can be hidden in the store. That said make sure you have ivory thread to match as well. Beyond that look for DIY wedding veil instructions online, you don’t care about the length and specifics because the attaching process is basically the same. It starts with making large stiches across the top in order to gather the veil. Follow the rest of the instructions, realize that you don’t have to be exact and make sure to stich and stich again in order to anchor it firmly.

I am currently working on my fingertip lenght veil but the comb part is the same no matter the lenght unless you are doing a mantilla veil where it gets attatched differently. If you have one around you JoAnn’s has combs in their wedding section. You can find tutorials online on how to attatch the comb but mostly it is a running stitch through the top of the veil to gather it and then stitching the veil to the comb.
