@chumpette84:  Hiya…My dress is vintage silk and just short of a “chapel” length…but I’m going with a cathedral length veil even though we’re getting married a vineyard. I don’t think it really matters so long as you like it and it matches the dress. If you feel a long veil is to “church” like then maybe go with a plain non embellished veil?

I found a 2-tier cathedral length veil on Ebay for 99 cents US with free shipping…you can always order something like that just to see if you like the long veil?

@chumpette84:  I love the long veils, my FSIL just had a wedding recently (outdoor ceremony) with a long veil and it didn’t look out of place – it looked stunning!

@chumpette84:  It’ll always be overwhelming when other people chime in…I’ve had to stop asking people (especially around me) what they think as usually they don’t like my plans haha Just go with your instincts and remember that you’ll look amazing as the bride always does 😉

I agree, go with what feels best, but a long veil will add a bit of weight if you are outdoors and it is windy so it won’t fly all over your face? Just a thought…

I love long veils! I think they are elegant and timeless!  I recently went to an outdoor wedding on the Far North Coast, the bride was wearing a long veil and she looked so beautiful! But all brides look beautiful hehe. I guess it just comes down to what you feel most comfortable in

I didn’t have one but I was going to get a mid-length one.

I wasn’t planning on wearing one at all. That was until my mum found her mid-length veil in some old boxes. I’m taking it off the original 70’s headband and attaching it to a comb instead.

I found that if I mentioned at work about the not wanting to wear a veil I’d get shouted down about how “you only get married once and you’ll never have the chance to wear a veil again!” I learned pretty quickly not to bring it up again.
