We used C & J Entertainment (candjentertainment.com) for our wedding. They did my husband's cousin's wedding and they were reasonably priced.
Good things:
Chris, the guy who organizes everything is really nice and enthusiastic. He worked with me to find a version of the insturmental music that I wanted to walk down the aisle to. We found one that was the right tempo and he created a version of it that would fade in about 2 minutes into the song so that it would be the "good part" while I was walking down the aisle.
I can't remember our specific DJ's name but I think he did a decent job of keeping the party going.
Not-So good things:
We paid our deposit several months in advance and they told us the due date for the rest of the money (like 2 weeks before the wedding). We met with Chris about 3 weeks before the wedding. A week and a half before the wedding Chris notified us that we needed to pay the rest of the money and that they don't take checks within two weeks of an event. My husband had to drive to his office and pay in cash which was a real pain. Yes, we should have known the due date but a reminder would have been nice especially since we had just met with him a few days before the due date!!
They played the wrong songs during the ceremony! All of the time that Chris spent getting my music to the right point to be playing perfectly while I walked down the aisle was a complete waste of time because the DJ messed up. He played the bridal processional music for both the bridal party and my Dad and I. By the time I was walking down the Aisle, the song was nearly over. This also meant that the congregation had no prompt to stand for me walking down the aisle.
The DJ played the wrong song when my Husband and I were announced. Not a huge deal, but it sucks that we spent a whole night deciding on music only to have it not played.
When we were about to start our first dance, he made the comment "lets hope the tech got this one right". I guess that means someone else lined up the music before the wedding but the DJ was still aware of the correct songs b/c he knew he messed up. Shouldn't he have checked it himself?
When we met with Chris I wanted to book the DJ until 10pm but he talked me into booking until 9pm. He said everyone would be tired from the long day and that it would be winding down by then. He also said that if the party was still going strong, we could add on an hour there and then. At 8:45 the dance floor was PACKED and everyone was having a great time. My husband and I went to the DJ to add an extra hour and he said he couldn't b/c it was his anniversary. I was really dissapointed!! When he announced that it was the last song, the whole crowd seemed just as dissapointed as I was. Everyone wanted to keep dancing! We had planned on an iPod for after the DJ left but didn't prepare it b/c we thought we could add the extra hour. It really felt like the wedding ended prematurely.
Overall, we had a good DJ but there are certainly things that I wish had gone differently!
