I’m planning a May hawaii wedding with about 30 ppl. My issuie is that I can never get ahold of the venors..any of them. I can call, email. like pulling teeth to even get anything set up. The only thing I’ve managed to get is the reception location nailed down. Still can’t get anybody else to reply. This is sooooo annoying and I’m not sure what to do. Not like I can just zip down there.

Do you think you could get a wedding coordinator for you down there? That way you will have someone down there that could go to locations for you and get things done. I know it’s another cost but it’s so hard getting people to do things by email and phone only.

I’d say hire a local wedding planner? I know that’s probably not something you wanted to spend money on but it might be worth it.

I feel your pain! I think it may be a hawaii thing…I’ve always had to leave several voicemails and emails before I ever get a response. (With the exception of the vendors that cater primarily to Japanese couples, those for some reason seem to be pretty punctual.) Don’t give up though, just keep calling and leaving messages until you get responses! Or get yourself a good coordinator to help you out!

Well I’d get a planner but I can’t get any to answer a phone or return emails..lol. The only one that did had a $ 4 quote for full services, ouch !

Well the hotel well handle stuff at the reception end. As long as stuff is set to put on the tables they will do that as part of the reception package. I need to get somebody to handle the location end and they just don’t reply back …

Don’t forget about the time difference, you may have to call them later in the afternoon for you.

I got married in Puerto Rico and had the exact same problem – I chalked it up to the more laid-back island lifestyle. It was super frustrating at times, but everything turned out in the end for my wedding. Take a deep breath and maybe take a short break from planning – it will be fine – they’ll eventually get back to you.

Well I decided that even if it cost me more I’m going to go thru the hotel’s recomended vendors. They can help get them to call me if I’m not getting them. PLus since they work with them all the time they are more familar with the style of the hotel. My boyfriend who lived there for 20 yrs said it just island time and that’s how they work. On one good note, I got a ceremony planner. They we’re very nice and even told me I don’t need a day of planner since my hotel is very good at handling the details. Any company that will be honest and turn down money that they could have got from me has my buisness !!
