Do you think you could get a wedding coordinator for you down there?  That way you will have someone down there that could go to locations for you and get things done.  I know it’s another cost but it’s so hard getting people to do things by email and phone only.

I’d say hire a local wedding planner? I know that’s probably not something you wanted to spend money on but it might be worth it.

I feel your pain! I think it may be a hawaii thing…I’ve always had to leave several voicemails and emails before I ever get a response.  (With the exception of the vendors that cater primarily to Japanese couples, those for some reason seem to be pretty punctual.)  Don’t give up though, just keep calling and leaving messages until you get responses! Or get yourself a good coordinator to help you out!

I got married in Puerto Rico and had the exact same problem – I chalked it up to the more laid-back island lifestyle. It was super frustrating at times, but everything turned out in the end for my wedding. Take a deep breath and maybe take a short break from planning – it will be fine – they’ll eventually get back to you.
