    • Our wedding date;

          May 5, 2010

    • Ceremony venue (same as Reception Venue);

Calgary Wedding Pavillion. It’s beautiful, it’s one stop shopping for the most part, and you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving with the hotels across the way and the option to shuttle your guests at the end of the night. We’re very happy with all the options they’ve given us so far.

    • Officiant

None yet, I’m very worried by the lack of reviews of Calgary wedding officiants.

    • Caterer

Our catering will be provided by Wedding Pavillion. We have yet to have our tasting, but when we do I’ll fill you Western Bees in!

    • Coordinator

Our planner is also provided by Wedding Pavillion. It is seriously such a great value to go with Wedding Pavillion- otherwise we probably would’ve opted for no planner.

    • Photographer

Can you guess who is providing this service? Wedding Pavillion! This is one area where we may upgrade however, because their photography packages are a bit limited as is.

    • Videographer

We haven’t decided on this yet. If we do end up having a videographer, we’re considering asking at ACAD for student referrals.

    • DJ/Band

We’re still hashing out whether or not we want to just pimp out an Ipod for the wedding or employ the Wedding Pavillion’s external vendor for this. There aren’t too many dancers in our families, so we aren’t sure if it’s worth it yet.

    • Florist

          None yet.

    • Cake

Bliss Cupcakes is our front-runner. They have the same decadence of their competitor Crave Cupcakes, but they are more enjoyable (read: edible) and cost-efficient where they are fairly new. Yay Strawberry puree buttercream!

    • Dress

This is one vendor I’m using that I would NOT recommend to anyone. I’m buying my dress from Calgary Bridal Centre, but solely because they are the only nearby salon that retails Maggie Sottero. They are awful women down there though, very nasty and upsetting in general. I’m not even willing to buy my veil here. For those looking for European designer gowns (random interjection, I know) Deza’s bridal is lovely. But beware, their dresses run small.

    • Shoes

I’m thinking Payless right now- I want plain flat shoes so I don’t feel like paying “bridal shoe” prices for that. However, for those in the market for bridal heels/ more extravagant shoes, Ethos on 17th Avenue has a great selection.

    • BM Dress

Again Calgary Bridal Centre. However, for my BM’s they weren’t half as rude or pushy, so it isn’t too bad for that market.

    • Hair Stylist/MUA

I have no idea. If ANY Calgary Bees have recommendations let me know.

    • Invitations

    Vistaprint

    • Rings

    Spence Diamonds

    • Wedding: July 2012

    • Your wedding date:  Aug 2012 Monday

    • Ceremony venue: Outdoor gazebo at the Silvertip Resort, Canmore, AB.

    • Officiant: Pastor Scott Weatherford – he’s our super awesome pastor at the First Alliance Church in Calgary. We took him with us when we had our heli-wedding elopement in the Kananaskis Country. We don’t know what we’re doing this time, probably just have him officiate a ceremony to bless our marriage (as opposed to renewing our vows).

    • Reception venue: Same as above (The main pavilion)

    • Caterer: Silvertip

    • Coordinator: Kathleen Dominie – I know it’s too early to say, but she’s very personable and she seems to “get” me.

    • Photographer: We had Chris Siddall when we took the helicopters to elope in the mountains – awesome awesome photos! For our summer event, we chose to go with Troy Young. Very talented guy, very reasonable rates. He customized us a package that will include a 12-hour photography and unlimited photobooth. We’re really looking forward to this!

    • Videographer: Deltech Productions in Calgary – was a Calgary Consumers’ Choice Awardee. You should check our elopement video – I bet you haven’t seen anything like it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDutBQNn1IE

    • DJ/Band: My husband’s cousin plays professionally as a violinist. He’ll be leading the string trio for our ceremony. We have Hot Tamales for our dinner/dance reception. The best part? They can do jam-a-roke a.k.a. karaoke with the live band. It’ll be funnn.

    • Florist: None yet. My wedding coordinator has offered to do them (if I don’t require anything overly elaborate). I am making my own brooch bouquet. Wish me luck!

    • Cake: JK Bakery in Canmore. They supply breads and such to Silvertip so they must be good. We met with Angie, the baker/decorator/one of the owners and she’s sooo nice. The cupcake was also excellent and very well priced. Mmmmmm ganache!

    • Shoes: None yet. I might end up using “something old”.

    • BM Dress: Edward Teng

    • Hair Stylist: Still looking around Canmore area. Suppliers and vendors are limited in Canmore, but if I were to get someone from Calgary, I have to pay the travel fees.

    • MUA: Still looking.

    • Invitations: Kristine of Katma.ca is making our laser-engraved wood invitations (main invite). We picked the cherry veneer. Oh it’s so fabulous. I chose Ute Rogers of Finishingtouch.ca to make the coordinating pocketfolds and inserts. Of all the places I checked in Calgary, she has the best selection of cardstock and stationery. If you want elegant, textured, sparkly stationery, she’s your lady. She’s very talented, having worked in the business for a long time. And because she now works from home, her price is very reasonable.

    • Rings: Jewels by Maxine in Calgary – hands down the best customer service and the best selection ever. I have a custom Simon G bridal set. My husband has the sparkly Tacori, which I picked. They have excellent, excellent service – they repaired our old jewelry for free (even if we purchased them elsewhere) and whenever I’m in Market Mall or Chinook Centre, I can just stop by and have them clean my jewelry. No waiting in line and it’s done in under 15 minutes. It is part of their lifetime warranty (which comes with purchase) to resize and clean the rings for free however many times we need it. And if we loose any of the small diamonds, they get replaced for free too.

    • Other vendors: Lisa of Monster-in-law wedding rentals in Calgary – they have super affordable rentals! Debbie Ott of Knotty Notions (etsy vendor) – she made me some beautiful wood-burned tree ring table numbers. And for those of you planning a heli-wedding elopement, I highly recommend the Kananaskis Heli Tour. We received wonderful service from the crew. We didn’t feel rushed at all. They allowed us to take as much time as we need for the ceremony and photos. The other company cancelled on us 2 hours prior to our ‘flight’ due to weather conditions (?) but Kheli saved the day and even gave us an excellent package pricing.

If anyone is looking for great mobile or on location hair stylists you should consider Tie the knot hair design.  They have over 11 years of experience with bridal hair and the prices are pretty good compared to local salons.  Not to mention they come to you, they are located in and around kelowna and west kelowna.  The travel throughout the Okanagan and between Vancouver and Calgary. http://www.tietheknothairdesign.com
