I sent them save-the-dates, but I don't think I'm going to send them an invite (maybe the photographer).

maybe the photographer only just to get a good picture of it.  Other than that, it isn't required.

I plan on sending just my photographer an invite. He said he usually requests one to photograph anyway.

My photographer is a very good friend so she's "invited" as a guest for and as a vendor. As for the others - I don't think so. A save the date is a good idea though, I never thought of that!

It's really nice if they get invitations...plus, your photographer/videographer might be able to use it in their shots.

It doesn't hurt because then they have an extra reminder of the wedding date and schedule.  Jsut include a note mentioning that you thought they might like one as a reference.  You do not want them to think they are an invited guest.  I wouldn't include a reply card but if they ahve a choice for thier meal it is nice to ask thier preference or if they have dieatary concerns.  The venue may have seperate vendor meals but it is probably a good idea to be sure that they get a vegetarian meal if needed.

I'm still sticking with 'the contract is their invite'.

i agree with mrs corn -- at $8/invite, they can use the contract to find out where to go!

Ohhhh - great timing!  I am just sending STDs.  I was planning on sending one to the officiant, as I think I read in Miss Manners that you should treat him/her as a guest.  But I hadn't thought of the photographer.  And the band members are actually old family friends, although probably not good enough to rate invitations if they weren't performing.  I guess I will send STDs/invitations with a little note included about how we are really looking forward to their help in making our day special.

I know its a bigger deal if you are DIY, but if you order in lots of 25 it is easier.  Right now we have 82 "units" on the guest list - most are two or more people - and so had to order 100 STDs.  I don't need that many extras for my scrapbook.
