So a few months ago I posted a story about my florist dilemma. Basically, the florist I wanted was being really difficult – she gave me a quote $500 above what I said was the minimum (and this was the cheapest price she quoted for me) and she took weeks to reply to correspondence.
We had gotten to the point of talking about deposits when I baulked, realising that I was getting the bare minimum of flowers for a ridiculous price. Add to that the fact that she was so difficult to work with made me hesitate to confirm her as my florist.
My last e-mail to her basically said that I wasn’t sure whether my fiance and I could commit, simply because a change in our finances (i.e. my grandfather’s death in April, which I didn’t tell her about) meant that we could not afford her.
She never replied to this and never contacted me again, even just to say, that’s fine, I understand. In the meantime, I found another florist who was much cheaper and easier to work with. The original florist never contacted me, so I never contacted her, assuming that our last e-mail exchange and the lack of communication would let her know that we were no longer interested in her services.
Well, just half an hour ago, she contacted me, asking for the deposit!!!!
My wedding is in A WEEK AND A HALF. She hasn’t gotten a deposit or e-mail from us, and we haven’t heard from her in FOUR MONTHS.
I e-mailed her back, apologising for the mix-up and informing her that we had found another florist.
Bees, was this my fault? Should I have been clearer earlier on??
I’m mostly worried because she knows our photographer well and I’m worried she’ll badmouth us or something. Our photog is very professional, but still, it makes me paranoid!
