I'm not even from NY, but what a great idea!

I LOVE this idea, here's my input:

Oooo, this is an old post, but I wanna participate!

Here's my vendors . . . I hope this isnt too long. We were lucky and almost all of our vendors were fantastic.

• Wedding Date: July 2, 2011

• Location: Rochester, New York

• Ceremony/ Reception: Max at High Falls. Loved them. Flexible, accommodating - Couldn’t have been more happy with a venue. They also included valet, which was great for guests coming in from the suburbs.

• Caterer: Max at High Falls - delicious. I was especially happy with the cocktail hour apps.

• Photographer: Erich Camping. Great.

• Videographer: A friend from Los Angeles has a company - LA Color - fantastic.

• Cake: Nightmare vendor. Had put a deposit down for a cake at Club 86 in Geneva. I posted a review on the horrible experience here. Basically – Lori (owner and baker) was late to appointments, was dishonest about her ability, her staff ate the requested cake samples before our appointment (!), rude, and completely unprofessional. I was in disbelief at her dishonesty when I met with her for the final review. Everything she promised, she stated she could no longer do. We cut our losses and found another baker - 2 DAYS prior to the wedding. Talk about unneeded stress. We ended up with a baker in another town over. Club 86 should not be in the wedding business. They just don’t have the organization, professionalism or skill necessary.

• DJ/Music: Brian Wright. Contracted through Turner Music Productions, but I believe Brian has his own company now. Brian was great. He met with us to discuss our needs, came to the venue during the rehearsal to see where everything was going to be set up, and was early on the day of the wedding.

• Florist: Stacey K Floral. Very creative. Her store is amazing.

• Chivari chairs: Bob Spatola’s. Easy to work with. Great service.

• Favors: Goodfortunecookies.com, boxes and ribbon from Michael’s, thank you tags from Etsy.

• Wedding Hotel Block: Hyatt in downtown Rochester. I picked this hotel because it was walking distance to the venue. Also, I live out of town and wasn’t able to check out the hotel prior to the wedding– so I relied upon the Hyatt name. Hotel was okay, but service was not great. It also wasn’t as nice as other Hyatt’s. They mixed up the block. For example, they had my husband sharing a room with my brother (made no sense!). Luckily, everyone had brought print-outs of their reservation confirmation. We figured it out for the Hyatt.  The staff said their computer system must have jumbled everything. Their staff also had a tendency to go MIA – hard to find a parking attendant (only way to park) or service staff. I submitted a review after the wedding via an online survey. A rep asked me to explain the issues we confronted. I replied, but have never heard back.

• Makeup: Joan Lincoln. Joan was great. She traveled to me. She also didn’t have a minimum number of persons required.

• Hair: Rock, Paper, Scissors. Great salon.

• Uplights, Dance Floor Wash, Gobo: Turner Music Productions (our DJ company). Great.

• Ceremony String Quartet:  Betsy Sprague Quartet. Great.

• Save the Dates / Invites:  Wedding Paper Divas

• DIY supplies, crystals, real dried orchids, vases: SavOn Crafts, Dollar Tree, CB2

• Linens: Wholesale Specialty Linens – great. Based in Long Beach, CA. They ship anywhere. Tell them you saw them on the Bee and that there was a coupon. They waived shipping for me. I was really happy with the quality. It ended up costing less to buy from them than to rent from a wedding linen company - and the quality was much better. I originally tried to rent linens from Table Toppers of Rochester. This didn’t work out. As an out of town bride, I had to discuss options via phone and email. The rep at table toppers did have time – I had to really press her and keep on her and she would send me an email from her phone in shorthand text language. It was unprofessional. After pressing her, she finally sent me samples almost 6 weeks after she said she would. They were not the fabric or color I requested. I cut ties at that point. If they wouldn’t assist me in the beginning, then I can’t imagine what would occur when they had my money. They may be a great option for an in-town bride who can go to their store, however. Although I was very frustrated at the time, I am happy this happened. I was able to find Wholesale Specialty Linens which was a lifesaver.
