Hi Hive! The misters and I had the pleasure of meeting our top 2 photographers today both have amazing work and are in the same price point so needless to say the choice was a hard one. After some discussion we have decided on one...here comes the tricky part how do we let the other know we wont be needing her services. Both photographers were super sweet and seemed psyched about the chance to shoot our wedding so it breaks my heart to reject one! How did you ladies let your rejected vendor know you wouldn’t be utilizing their services? Im telling you peps I feel like im about to break up with someone!

I emailed one photog we really liked and just let her know that I really respected her as an artist and would have loved to have worked with her, but another photog we had been considering had given us an offer on a discounted package and so we had decided to go that route. I also said I would pass her info along to friends who might be interested, which I have done. Like you said, she was someone I would've loved to have worked with, but we can only really afford one photog ;)

This is challenging, especially where both photographers were in your price point and you just had to make a choice! However, she is a businesswoman, and understands that not everyone will select her services. I wouldn't ramble on, but simply let her know you thought her work was amazing, but you elected to go with another photographer. She might be disappointed (from a businessowner point of view), but she most certainly would understand. If she is as great as you say she is, I am sure she will get lots of business anyways :) Keep it short and simple :)

It's a business, just keep it professional. "We decided to go another way, thanks for your time"....short and sweet. Save the sob stories :) They've heard no's before.
