I have been waiting all day to post this as I haven’t had Internet access but for my phone which let’s me read but not post. I have been following the BeeM drama and take this from someone who HATED BeeM when she first got here, she did NOT deserve to be banned!
I am really upset, not bc I “miss” her or her posts or any other such silly thing but because of the REASON she was banned. The fact that WB now has it in their policy that vendors are not allowed to defend their industry – let’s just call a spade a spade – vendors are no longer allowed to have/express a certain opinion. How about a little freedom of speech? I can understand people who are perpetually profane/menacing to the community, but TO BAN SOMEONE for expressing a certain opinion just bc you don’t agree with it?! That’s the very grounds on which our constitution was founded to prevent such a thing!
I love the mods, they keep the peace and this place wouldn’t be what it is without them, but I seriously think they need to step back and take a long hard look at the difference between keeping the peace and turning an open forum into a forced utopia. Anyone ever read 1984? Hello big brother.
I for one will not be bullied. If users and WB staff want to benefit from the advice of the industry professionals here, which we give freely and with no benefit to ourselves, they should accept the fact that the advice comes from human beings with real-life opinions that may or may not jive with theirs or those of other members on the boards.
All the other rules about self promotion i understand and agree with, as this place would be spammed to death with vendors otherwise, but as far as this particular new “rule” goes, I protest vehemently. Either allow us vendors to post here or don’t, but don’t tell we can post so long as it’s only from a point of view that you approve of. That’s just un-American.

@PassionatePhotoLady: Thank you for posting this, I know your words echo a much larger crowd that is afraid to come forward. I think this needed to be said. I am not expecting anything to change nor am I polling for it, but the mods need to hear this feedback. What they do with it….well is up to them. For myself, I have to decide if I want to continue posting here, knowing I may be censoring my own beliefs for fear of being banned, and by then, what is the point?
The example that was given was “telling brides that they will become cautionary tales to others if they don’t go the professional route.” I think many of us are guilty of this, because honestly the facts and stats show that is more likely than not going to happen. I always kept my posts to the point and factual. I never self promoted, I’m not going to stick around waiting to be banned because someone flags a post like this where I am just expressing a true professional opinion based on mostly facts.
It really is a silly rule, there are not enough pro’s on here to brainwash anyone. I like the idea of identifying members as pro’s with a label so people know up front where the advice is coming from. Perhaps that would be a fair middle ground. Then they can decide which advice they value most. Plus, just because someone is a pro, does that make them a vendor? I know pro’s here that do only child portraits….is that considered a vendor? They have no chance of ever being hired to do a wedding.

Amen to that. Mods can post freely with their personal (sometimes not well-received) opinions…
