I know you’re waiting and he has the ring (my husband had the ring too and it KILLED ME!!) but I would say to sit back and relax. Let him propose when he is ready. He will.

You have great self control. I’d have started a fist fight with him. What is wrong with men and the long engagements?  He HAS the ring but wants to give it to you 15 minutes before you walk down the aisle???  I do not get it. Did you tell him you specifically want more time to plan? Geez.  You can have a nice trip 4 months after you get engaged. I want to slap him in the back of the head. I’m the friend buying you a margarita right now because you are sooooooo right.

Time to get a new hobby that makes you totally happy & keeps your mind off Spring 2014!

It’s better if he waits until he’s ready – it can be a little scary if you’re not ready!
Maybe think of this as an opportunity to strengthen your relationship – that’s what FI and I did when we were first engaged (because it was a little scary for me!) Read some relationship books, work on your communication skills (I think just about everyone has room for improvement there), try to learn each other better (as opposed to learning about each other) It’s really fufilling when you get the hang of it!

Anyway, GOOD LUCK and hey – at least you know it’s coming soon! 🙂

@lovelee1:  Hang in there!  Looks like it’s right around the corner!

PS–My SO doesn’t like the idea of long engagements either.  Which I guess is not such a bad thing—Once he proposes it will mean he’s REALLY ready to get married!

Honestly if he’s already got the ring and he knows you’re going to say Yes, and you have a rough idea of when you’ll be getting married (because how can you know if it is a long engagement if you don’t know when it will finish?) it sounds to me like you’re pretty much engaged.

That’s funny, my fiance wanted a long engagement! We’ve been engaged for about a year and a half and it will be 2 years by the time we do get married.

ANYWAY. It’s annoying that he told you he WAS going to (MEN.), but he’s got the ring! So just hang in there. I know it sucks to wait, but I honestly feel like girls have it easy(er) when it comes to proposals. We just get to be surprised! You’re so close! 🙂
