Well, he sounds like a mighty douche.

I would make a complaint.

that’s ridiculous. What a jerk. (And on your hiking, congrats! I certainly couldn’t do that much hiking that quickly!)

honestly it sounds like he just wanted to get into a pissing contest… i don’t think your size had anything to do with it.

I also don’t think your size had anything to do with it. It sounds more like he saw you as another person to compete with, he was probably more concerned with a chick showing him up than with a bigger person showing him up being hes coming across as ultra ‘macho’. But thats me making assumptions too. It could be he honestly was just being competitive to be competitive

Maybe he was just having a roid rage moment. 😛 Don’t worry about idiots like that. It may have not even been that he thought you were “fat”. It may have simply been because you are a woman. There are still tons of men with the mentality that women are helpless little creatures.

I’d prepare a statement to make the next time he starts up with stuff like this. Memorize it so you’re ready to trot it out. Something along the lines of, “I don’t know why you feel the need to prove you’re ‘more fit’ than I am, but this interrogation is making me uncomfortable and I want it to stop. Now. Excuse me, I’m here to work out.”

I *hate* people like that.

I don’t think his comments had anything to do with your size (which sounds perfectly fit and healthy). He’s just a wanna be macho trainer who clearly has no personal skills and that’s why he’s leeching off his connections to try to build a client base by “helping” people in a gym.

i would mention something to the head trainer. if he did that to you, he’s doing it to other people too.

Some people are just punks like that and always have to show up others. I wouldn’t assume it had anything to do with your size.

You’re a very patient person. I would have probably swung at the guy. You absolutely should say something, especially since, as I understand it, he’s not even a real trainer.

ugh. Douche!

@Treejewel19:  This guy deserves one of these:

And seriously, size has literally nothing to do with health. Sometimes big people get health problems… but I’ve read that men who are BMI “overweight” and even “obese” but who report frequent exercise are less likely to die prematurely than men who are BMI “normal” but don’t work out.

One of my bffs looks bigger and has even gotten crap for it, but is in WAY better shape than I am! She could outrun me, both faster and longer, any day of the week. You could wake her out of a sound sleep and give me a week to prepare and I’d still be throwing up and passing out before she even broke a sweat. And yet nobody would likely bet on her if we raced, which is just so stupid.

My mom is overweight but could probably take my dad in a fight and I love the way she MYSTIFIES sizeist doctors who seriously look at her like she’s an alien, shaking their head, going “your numbers [cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, triglycerides, you name it.] are perfect, I don’t understand it…”

It’s waaaay past time to decouple weight from health.

@Treejewel19:  I would 100% make a complaint. He sounds like a real douchebag. Screw him.
