I was on Yaz for the past 5 years until July 2011.  Since getting off I have only gotten my period twice (today being the first day of my second period).  Basically I got my period July 7, September 13, and now November 6th.  Has anyone else been in this situation?  How long did it take your periods to normalize before you were able to TTC?  I really hoped it would have been sooner than this but apparently my body is still adjusting.  And why is it I jeep hearing all these stories about people who got pregnant on their first month off the pill?  :((((

I knew this was a possibility but I am just feeling frustrated and annoyed.  Now that I am ready to actually be pregnant and have a baby my body isn't cooperating.  I can't even figue out if and when I'm ovulating!  Any advice out there?

I am just a little curious, while you were on Yas did you always get your period during your placebo week or did it come and go?

Always got it during placebo week - it was like clockwork (literally, like 11am on the 4th placebo day).  Also, I should note that prior to going on Yaz my periods were really regular as well.  I think this is also jarring because I've never dealt with such uncertainty before!

I never went back to normal, but that's only because there was no normal to begin with. I have PCOS, and though I've had times in my life where I've had regular periods, it wasn't unexpected that I didn't regulate for more than a year after I went back off birth control.

My body took a while to get back to normal, just over 5 months I'd say. I was on ortho cyclen for 5 years, I stopped January, got my regular last day of active pills period, then got one sometime in February, then nothing until June. But since that point I've had them exactly on schedule. Good luck and hope your back to normal now!

I was on Yasmin for 9 years. I ovulated and got my period 27 days later. It's remained consistent since. We're in our third month of trying. I waited 3 months before we started trying to get a feel for my cycle and its regularity.

@carrieknitscake:  I am hoping that after this period it will stabilize like it used to be so I can take a couple of months as well to figure out exactly when is the best time to concieve :)  Ideally this will be the last of the 60 days betwee periods type of deal.

@bunny: Ditto. I never had a regular period, so stopping BC was the same - back to randomness.

i was also on birth control for five years.my periods never regulated before i got pregnant....it took me over 2 months to get my first period, and i think even longer before my next one came. after that, i got pregnant. it was quite a shock!                       edit: actually now that i think about it and count the months, i think it was less than three months before we got pregnant, maybe only two. regardless, my period was definitely not regular at the time. i always thought it needed to be regular first...but i guess not!

Oops I voted wrong. I voted for 0-3 months before I read the post, I didnt realize it was about hormonal birth control.

My period went back to normal right away, but I think I'm in the minority. I know a lot of girls, both here and IRL have taken longer to stabalize. That said, it took me over a year after I went off to get pregnant, and I miscarried. But that has to do with me, not with birth control.

My doctor told me to give my body 3 months to "normalize" after going off BC and then try.  And after the 3 month wait, I got pregnant on the first try.  Good luck!

I did get pregnant the second month off the pill, first month trying - but I ovulated a week later than I thought I would. My cycle was a week longer the second month off the pill.

People react differently to the Pill -- I was one of the ones who just continued to cycle like clockwork when I went off the Pill (well...for a while, anyways, and then my body decided to screw with me & my cycle is anywhere from 42 days (regular + 2 weeks) to 35 days to 28 days.) Urgh!

I know it's frustrating (and I'm not even TTC) -- have you been tested for PCOS or anything similar?

ETA: I was on the Pill for about 2.5 years.
