I was so excited by my haul at Jo Ann Fabrics (btw they’re having a huge 70% off sale, seriously go there) that I was practically bouncing to my car. I loaded my bags in the trunk, rolled the windows down, and just as I was backing out of my parking spot (slowly, looked both ways) this crazy woman backed into me.
I was JUST about to straighten the wheel and put my car in drive when this idiot woman put her car in reverse and GUNNED it right into the back of our car.
Luckily, nothing was broken or crushed or anything, and I’m ok too, but there is a huge scrape mark. If our car wasn’t an old Grand Marquise that we only paid a bunch of college guys $2000 for, I would have been LIVID.
She got out of her car and said, “Ohhhhhh my Godddddd…I didn’t even look. I didn’t even bother to look.”
She then got into her car, I got into mine (shaking, I might add), and I waited for her to leave (aka gun it out of her parking spot AGAIN) before I pulled back out.
UGH!!! Seriously! There’s a Chuck E’ Cheese right next door to Jo Ann’s, what if my car would have been a kid instead?! She gunned it a second time too?!
ARG I’m fuming!

I’m gald you are okay. I can’t stand when people jump into their cars and back up quickly without looking. Very irresponsible.

@LindsayMaree: she prob wanted to get the hell out of there before you asked for her insurance info!

I would have got her info anyway. SO had some douchebag run into the back of his car at a red light (how the hell that happened…). It wasn’t super hard, but it was enough to startle me and I screamed. The guy was trying to be slick like oh, oh there’s no damage, here’s my phone number just call me and would not give his insurance info. SO felt pressured to move the cars since it was in the street, and it *looked* like only a small dent/scratch on his back bumper, and just took the guy’s phone number, and called it to “verify” before we left, but I got a picture of his plate when he wasn’t looking.
Turns out SO’s little “scraped bumper” totally messed up the integrity of his entire back bumper and he had to get it replaced. If I hadn’t taken the picture of the guy’s license plate and tags, SO’s insurance would never have been able to track him down. Naturally, when we called the guy it was straight to voicemail.

Glad you’re okay & damage was minimal! I’ve only been in 1 accident and it was a wreck (other guy took a left directly in to my car, greaaaat) but I feel like that’s almost less frustrating than these minor incidents (I only had to deal with the cops, not the other driver, and insurance dealt with the rest). FI had some woman do something similar to your story – she decided to change lanes to avoid a highway on-ramp and took off his side mirror. When he pulled over and went to talk to her, she said something similar like “I didn’t even bother to look! Were you behind me or were you in my blind spot or anything?” FI was literally SHAKING with anger when he got back in the car.
It’s just so unnecessary! And gunning it in a parking lot?! WHY?!
