I would say to watch where you are sitting. LOL I live in a house with mh Darling Husband and two little boys and the toilet seat is always up.  Even if I remind them to put it down they forget.  I pretty much gave up the battle when my youngest boy potty trained.

FYI, when I did finally get them to put the seat down, they left it down.  Meaning, they peed on the seat!  I would much rather have to put the seat down then sit on a wet one.

This probably doesn’t help your situation, but, pick your battles and just be vigilant about your commode!

I have never noticed… Actually I think Fiance puts the whole lid down so I have to open it to go to the toilet… I have never worried about it before – I lived with my dad and bro until my mid 20s on and off and if it was up I put it down… No biggie!

My Fiance is really goot about putting it down. I think he may have left it up like… TWICE the entire time we’ve been living together. Honestly, though, it’s because he likes it better when it’s down — has nothing to do with me! Haha. I’m totally with you, though. I hate it when the toilet seat is left up.

I have no suggestions, other than the fact that my Fiance always puts the seat & lid down, and I love him for it: to me it’s so chivalrous.

He puts the seat down & opens the car door for me first… two simple things, really. But to me it makes him a knight in shining armour, and he knows it!

Pick your battles. Not worth the argument.

I can honestly say it’s something we’ve never fought about. He often puts it down but if it’s up I just put it down myself. I mean I expect him to lift it up when he needs to go so I don’t make a big deal putting it down when I need to go.

I don’t really have suggestions for you and the only advice I can really give you is to pick your arguments. In the long run I don’t think it’s worth getting so upset over and you’d be amazed by how little things like this end up causing a lot of resentment between couples.

If this is the worst thing you have to deal with during your relationship you will be one fortunate lady!  I would just let it go, it isn’t worth wasting time over.

My husband always had and probably always will leave it up.  My steptson however, lived with us for 13 years until college and to this day he always put both down when he is finished.  Yep sometimes you just can teach a old dog new tricks, but if you train them when they are young you might get lucky! 🙂

My Fiance did it for about a month but changed his tune when I pointed out that it was really bad manners. He also moved in with me tho so I layed down the rules in those early days.

My personal opinion is look before you sit.  I grew up with 3 sisters and a brother and my mom, the seat was ALWAYS down.

However, Fiance was an only child and has a habit of leaving the seat up.  I feel like the toilet seat is adjustable so both genders can have their comfort and necessary aiming space.  I do NOT feel that guys are the only ones who need to lift the seat up / put it down.

If it is down and Fiance needs it up, he’ll put it up.

If it is up and I need it down, I’ll put it down.

Easy as pie…

I agree with PP. I grew up with brothers, and while I think it’s courteous for a guy to put the seat down when he’s done, it’s just not worth arguing about. It’s honestly just not that big of an inconvenience. I’d be much more ticked if he habitually got pee on the floor like some of my friends’ husbands.

Actually this is one thing we don’t really argue about. He doesn’t leave it up all the time and when he does I just put it down.

We have an electrical cord coming from the bathroom to the hall outside where there’s a bench where we charge our phones. So the bathroom door has to stay open all the time. We have two dogs and a cat, so the toilet seat stays DOWN and CLOSED all the time! So both of us has to put it up to go pee! And both of us closes the seat after pee.  Solves the dilemna of falling in…

Is this based after the South Park episode? You and your Fiance should watch it if you haven’t seen it…
