Oh man! That just stinks! I can’t believe your prof waited until the last minute and then told you she didn’t have time to write the recommendation letter. Horrible! And the missing transcripts…wow. Hope everything works out and they get it all in time!!!!

Unfortunately, grad school offices are NOTORIOUSLY incompetent and disorganized.  Your experience sounds exactly like mine when I was applying and I am sad to say but it only gets worse once you actually start the program.  I’m so sorry, it’s the most frustrating, aggravating thing ever bc for you, these things are like, mega-important but it’s not for them…Sucks, I’m so sorry!!! Hopefully you’ll be able to get everything in on time and if not, write to the head of the department, explain what happened, they’re usually pretty flexible about application dates! Good luck!

Aw sweetie this sucks! Grad school is a hugely stressful decision and process without the school making it worse! I don’t think you should complain to the school about the one professor, since you already got another to write you a letter at the last minute. I would, however, complain about the misplaced transcript, and say exactly what you said here. You’re right, if their employees were competent, you wouldn’t need to know their name!

Hey there! I’m sure everything will work out! Graduate schools have to face these sorts of issues all the time. You can always give the graduate school a call and let them know that there may be a delay with your transcript because of a problem on your undergraduate institution’s behalf. Or have a representative from that office call the grad school directly.

Best of luck with everything.
