Someone is registered to BBB and Macys (so am I). They have the same name as me (front and last, same spelling). Its not that common of a name to begin with, so I was surpised. Their wedding date is my shower date and guests have been buying off of her registry. My mom figured it out when people had told her that they purchased a spice wrack and a pasta maker from the registry. I have food allergies so I wouldnt have registered for that. Sure enough people had bought off of the other person’s registry. Family and friends have been trying to spread the word and Im sure itll get reolved or returning will be involved. Just a random vent!
Anyone else have something like this going on?

@SparkleBee11: Try having a very common name ! We just gave up and returned things purchased from someone else’s registry.

@weddingbee098: We’re having a Sunday wedding, and a brunch reception. It’s not a DW, but the venue is quite fancy and the Saturday night minimum was outrageous. A few people will be taking Monday off, but most will be able to drive or fly home Sunday late afternoon or evening.
So I think it’s fine to have a Sunday wedding. We found some of the vendors were more flexible with packages and very willing to add on extras at no added cost.

Oh lord! Hopefully they aren’t getting shipped to the wrong person … I’d feel pretty shortchanged if my wedding guests were just straight-up buying presents for a complete stranger. Hey, maybe some of her guests will buy a gift or two for you while they’re at it 😉

Wow that really sucks. Is there a way to give yourself a more identifying nickname so you don’t get mixed up?

Do you guys have fiances with the same name too? Or are these guests just not paying close attention? Both my registries showed both names and location!

@hegetsme: They probably have set you up a a favourite so that everytime you do something on your profile (add a picture post a status) they are notified. I did it once for my Husband and couldnt figure out why I kept getting notified everytime he did something on facebook (whihci is rarely ever) I’m not that much of a stalker lol

@SparkleBee11: this happened to me once too, not the presents-bought-for-them thing, but the name mixup. i tried to set up a registry and it wouldnt let us, because there was another couple in their system with the same first and last names as us (yes both bride and groom had the same names as us!) and the same wedding date, AND in the same town! But it wasnt us. i never did get it to allow us to make a registry though, it kinda sucked because i love the store.

@SparkleBee11: Not wedding related BUT there was a lady with some apparent financial issues who lived in the same apartment building as me, with the exact same name, same birthday (but different year). Her bad credit ended up on my Beacon Score – what a pain in the ass that was to fix so we could buy a house. Took me damn near 8 months to get that sorted out. I also run into issues with her at the pharmacy, the florist, lots of places.
